It’s a beautiful thing when journalists begin to pull on the same cords holding together a central story. In the case of Marvel, it appears that the fantastic YouTube channel, Midnight’s Edge, is hot on the trail of the same facts and rumors That Park Place is working on. The cords here are a series of powerful people within Marvel who have varied interests in the narratives they produce, all of which is creating the discombobulation and lack of success pandemic and post-pandemic Disney Marvel is manufacturing.
Sure, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness had an awesome first weekend, but how much of that was due to people loving Sony’s Spider-Man work that featured Strange?
Anyway, here’s what our own Manu Lopez had to say yesterday about the Marvel situation:
We’re planning to break down who is guiding Marvel into unfamiliar territory next week. Would you believe that it’s a combination of hubris, Rick and Morty storytelling and disengaged post modern feminism that is leading Marvel to ditch winning formulas? We’ll go over those three strategies coming from three different individuals soon.
While we’re definitely still going to continue on with that, and for good reasons, we’re delighted that Midnight’s Edge is gathering some of the same data. They call it rumor, and we’re happy to oblige, but we hope soon to have it be more substantiated than that.
