James Mangold and Kathleen Kennedy had better hope they get this thing right, because it is quite difficult to imagine much in the way of reshoots if post-production finds issues. For Indiana Jones 5, filming is set to wrap by the end of February, per a source that has been correct in the past on the film’s production. This somewhat matches what the director had said about the filming process, but also suggests that they may be running over by a few weeks.
To give some credence to what I am about to report, consider the accuracy of this source in the past:
In the summer of 2021, I reported exclusively (followed soon by Grace Randolph) that Harrison Ford’s injury was more significant than Disney and James Mangold were publicly stating. As opposed to what nearly every single other media outlet reported, I held steadfast that Ford was not likely to return for eight weeks, and even may have had surgery. When he finally returned, the reporting was vindicated.
From some of my original reporting:
For those out of the loop, Harrison Ford injured himself during an action scene filming involving a train. The injury was a reaggravation of an older injury, and could have resulted in surgery (and still may, that’s being kept secret). The Walt Disney Company released a statement about the situation, which mostly downplayed the severity. However, commentators such as myself and Grace Randolph were able to discover that the film crew was being told something entirely different. A six to eight week delay in filming for Ford (sans some green screen work) was instituted and the actor was seen walking around London in a sling.
Lucasfilm’s Secret Deep Fake Weapon for Saving Indiana Jones 5
Both Grace Randolph and I took heat for going against what Disney and Mangold were saying. But we were right.
So can I absolutely verify that these rumors are true? No. What I can do is say that they’re interesting to ponder this far out, and they may potentially contain spoilers. If you want to keep your viewing of Indiana Jones 5 pristine, I recommend stopping here.
Here’s what I’m getting from the prior source:
Reportedly, we’re getting the potential for another Han Solo situation… perhaps specifically to satisfy the desire of Harrison Ford that Indiana Jones never be played by anyone other than himself. While it cannot be known if this will pan out in the film, or whether this is a decoy scene meant to throw leakers off the trail, I am informed that Indiana Jones 5 may feature a death scene in which Indy sacrifices himself to save other character(s). This isn’t terribly surprising given how the last Wolverine film ended — a film that Mangold also directed. What does seem odd is that it’s hard to do the kind of popcorn action flick that Indiana Jones is known for if you’re going to kill off the hero.
Another supposed leak is a warning that the film may be pushed into a political space. I’m told that Mangold and Ford may push the final Indiana Jones movie into a bit of a partisan direction, using the historical setting for some American skepticism… and I can’t imagine that Disney is going to be happy about that. Specifically, I have a very hard time believing that Susan Arnold and Alan Bergman are going to allow this. Does that signal trouble ahead for Kathleen Kennedy and James Mangold as they try to sell this to The Walt Disney Company? Could it mean even more delay as the company tries to fix what may be a film that speaks about modern issues in a movie that is dated to the late sixties? Whatever the case, I’m told that Indiana Jones is not necessarily on the side of the American government in the forthcoming flick.
Finally, the last rumor sent my way is that Indiana Jones will reportedly not wear the eye patch from the Old Indy bookends out of the Young Indiana Jones series. Those have been removed from the latest reissues, and seem to be getting the decannonization treatment. Some had thought he would be injured at a point in the movie resulting in the patch. That doesn’t seem to be panning out.

Anywho, these are just the rumors I’m getting from a source that was very helpful in the past. I can’t verify them, but I think they’re worth a read. It will be interesting to see if these turn out to be true like the other rumors I’ve reported on.
What do you think of these possible leaks? Do these fit with what you’re wanting out of the movie, or do you think changes might need to occur? Let me know in the comments below. And remember to keep checking out That Park Place for all your latest entertainment news, rumors, and leaks!

They killed the Indiana Jones brand with the last movie. Who wants to see more of that? Plus, Harrison Ford turns 80 this year. He is no Sean Connery, and this is just silly to still try and push him as an action hero. What a joke!
Kathleen Kennedy’s pursuit of identity politics, and putting agenda over storytelling already killed off Star Wars as a behemoth brand. Indiana Jones is obviously next on the chopping block for her. So that she can truly finish off all of George Lucas’ legacy before she moves on, I guess we’ll need to wait for the reimagining of Labyrinth and Willow to go forward. Gee, I can’t wait for the Willow series to show us Willow Ufgood walk away from Kaiya and the kids, to stay “true to his heart” by marrying Meegosh, for Jazz Jennings to be cast as the Goblin Queen.
The Last Crusade was THE last Indiana Jones movie. I won’t this this new one at all.
Disney should’ve pushed for a new adventure series with new characters and villians. You can use the same themes and techniques as the Indy films without using Indiana Jones.
With legacy characters I hope that they are learning that they need to use them carefully and not just as member berries.
I only care enough to comment here.
I have no interest in this movie as Lucas Film wrote me out of my childhood.
I’ll take my kids to the Ryan’s World movie when it happens.
I skipped Crystal Skull because the buzz was that the movie was awful, and later on the reviews bore this out. I think there’s almost no chance this movie is going to be good.
I 100% buy into the rumor that the movie is going to “go political.” Kathleen Kennedy is in charge of it, and she is totally incapable of leaving her peculiar brand of politics out of her movies. I also 100% buy into the rumor that Kennedy is going to have Indiana Jones killed off, for all the same reasons she got rid of Luke Skywalker.
I would consider seeing it only if the audience reaction is overwhelmingly and fantastically positive and sources I trust (such as you, Nerdrotic, Clownfish, etc) speak positively of it.
