“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” Releases New Namor Featurette

Things are not looking great for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the box office. With projections at less-than-half of the original, can a villain featurette help?

Retailers are freaking out as the new Black Panther merchandise just won’t sell. Movie theaters are fearing the worst autum in modern box office history may turn into a similar holiday season. Even Avatar 2 with its three-hour-plus runtime is looking like a potentially bigger hit than Wakanda Forever. We don’t say any of that to gloat or take glee in the likely failure. We say it because this is a phenomenon in our culture worth examining! Something is wiping out interest in one of Marvel’s biggest properties.

Now, the studio is turning to a Latino villain named Namor to raise the awareness of the brand. Can a bad version of Aquaman start turning things around? Find out by checking out the brand new featurette just released today!

Frankly this film looks ridiculous and the weight and seriousness that the marketing, via these actor commentaries, is trying to associate it with makes it all the more so.

Fred

whats ridiculous about it ?

There is reason this film comes after Disney’s earnings report. I can’t put my finger on it, but I look forward to Valiant Renegade sorting it out. As for the film I’m skipping the clip and movie. Disney has to do better and one way to do it is to hire me to write movies at Lucasfilm.

You can’t put your finger on it but you’ll take the lazy way out and not see if the film will be good or bad? It makes as much sense as you demanding to be hired at LucasFilm when clearly YOU have to prove yourself.

I highly doubt it will fail Lightyear style.

A leak has confirmed that stupid Disney is pronouncing ‘Namor” as “Nahmor”. So, the MCU Namor/Atlantis design is based on Aztec/Incan/Etc. influences. Guess Disney didn’t know hat these ancient civilizations didn’t speak Spanish. By pronouncing it “Nahmor”, Disney is attempting to appeal to Latinos who speak Spanish; a Latin language brought by conquering Spanish seafarers to South America.

The truth is that many Mexicans and particularly Mexican-Americans have a strong tendency to romanticize their Aztec ancestors when in truth they know little to nothing about the history or culture of preColumbian America. It’s especially humorous when they are clearly more of more European descent than indigenous- especially a the indigenous people, who speak non-spanish languages still, resent the larger population with Spanish descent.

Yes you do please stop pretending you arent biased in any way.

Based on what lets be real it was unlikely to have a bigger opening weekend than the 1st film even if it was well received. Being projected to to make 175 million is not a sign of declining interest. Also who says avatar 2 is projected to be a bigger hit?
