Walt Disney World’s Blizzard Beach water park will close again this fall for seasonal refurbishment. The park’s final day of operation is scheduled for Sunday, September 7, 2025, with a temporary closure beginning Monday, September 8th. No reopening date has been confirmed, and park hours are currently unavailable through the end of November.

This closure follows a consistent seasonal rotation strategy employed by Disney since the 2020 lockdowns. Traditionally, the company alternates operations between Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, allowing one water park to remain open while the other undergoes maintenance. This approach enables the company to conserve resources during periods of lower demand while also addressing refurbishments without completely eliminating water park access for guests.

Dual Park Operation Returns for the First Time Since 2019

The 2025 summer season marked the first time since 2019 that both water parks operated simultaneously. Blizzard Beach reopened on May 21, 2025, joining Typhoon Lagoon, which had resumed operations on May 1.

The overlap allowed guests more flexibility in choosing water park experiences, a notable shift from recent years where only one park remained open at a time.

Timeline of 2025 Water Park Operations

  • April 1–April 30: Blizzard Beach hosted a 30th anniversary celebration, featuring themed entertainment, character appearances, and exclusive merchandise. The event highlighted the park’s history since its original opening in 1995.

  • May 1–May 20: Blizzard Beach briefly closed for transition and maintenance as Typhoon Lagoon opened for its regular summer run.

  • May 21–September 7: Both water parks operated concurrently. This marked a significant return to pre-pandemic norms in water park scheduling.

No Reopening Date Announced

At this time, Disney has not released a reopening date for Blizzard Beach. While the closure is officially labeled “seasonal,” the absence of operating hours through November suggests an extended pause in operations.

In past years, Disney has typically reopened one water park around November while closing the other. If that schedule continues, Typhoon Lagoon may close later in the year for refurbishment, potentially in mid-to-late November. Blizzard Beach could then reopen in its place for the winter season, although Disney has not confirmed any such plans.

What Guests Should Know

Guests planning fall and winter visits should note that only Typhoon Lagoon is expected to operate after September 8th.

Blizzard Beach’s attractions—including Summit Plummet, Teamboat Springs, and the Cross Country Creek—will be unavailable until further notice. Those looking to visit a Disney water park later this year should monitor the official calendar and Disney communications for updates.
