The Boo Bash has arrived at Magic Kingdom, although frankly I’ve never understood the idea of celebrating anything Halloween-related before Labor Day. That said, there are significant downgrades from Mickey’s Not So Spooky Halloween, and we’ve got one major example to show you just what we’re talking about.
In the first video, watch as a multi-story Jack Skellington puppet leads guests in a nighttime fireworks show all about Halloween. This was from two years ago:
So you would expect that Boo Bash would have something equally awesome, right? Well, watch as a generic, single parade float moves through the park with Jack, Sally, and Oogie Boogey all doing a very weird, very slow “dance”. This is from last night:
Now I know that Disney is trying to pull off a Halloween special event in the middle of a newly-rising (again) pandemic. But it’s hard not to be taken aback by the difference in quality between what guests experienced before versus now.

The one big plus we’ll have to give Disney is that they do feature Madame Carlotta outside of the Haunted Mansion. That’s a very cool touch!

Overall, however, it does appear that Boo Bash is a significant downgrade from prior years. I’m guessing that many guests who plopped down a chunk of change for a Boo Bash reservation are going to be at least a little bit disappointed after seeing the first night’s offerings.
