Bricks & Minifigs, a LEGO resale chain, has filed a lawsuit against YouTuber Reckless Ben. What began as a dispute over a collection of Star Wars LEGO sets has escalated into one of the strangest internet controversies of the year. Official and unofficial investigations, leaked communications, and police encounters have generated millions of views and sparked heated debate online.
Now, one of the central figures in the saga may have fled to Mexico.
The Missing $200,000 LEGO Collection
The story centers on a massive Star Wars LEGO collection reportedly valued at roughly $200,000. After spending years accumulating the rare sets as “an investment for his grandchildren’s future,” Bryan Mansell and his son, Eric, placed the collection on consignment through a Bricks & Minifigs franchise location in Oregon. At the time, the store was owned by Chrystal Law.

However, questions arose after ownership of the store changed hands. Mansell claimed he was unable to recover the collection and began searching for answers about what had happened to the items.
What initially appeared to be a local business dispute soon attracted attention far beyond the LEGO collecting community.
How Reckless Ben Became Involved
The story went viral when YouTuber Ben Schneider—known online as “Reckless Ben”—launched an investigation into the missing LEGO sets. Over the years, he has developed a following for his unconventional investigations into controversial groups, businesses, and internet personalities. He claims that the Mansell family reached out to him for help.
In a series of long-form videos, Schneider documented the Mansells’ efforts to recover the collection. His videos have drawn more than 2 million views online. Over the course of the series, Schneider made allegations against the store and local law enforcement.
Reckless Ben claims the store is wrongfully withholding the LEGO sets. He has also suggested corruption within local law enforcement. As the series progressed, the videos became increasingly dramatic, featuring confrontations with police, arrests, and legal notices being served.
Supporters of the investigation argued that greater scrutiny was needed, while critics accused Schneider and his followers of escalating the conflict.
Lawsuits, Arrests, And Competing Claims
Bricks & Minifigs has pushed back. In a statement, the company claims that the missing collection is only worth between $60,000 and $80,000. Additionally, according to The Salt Lake Tribune, the company has filed a lawsuit accusing Schneider, Mansell, and others of conducting a targeted harassment and extortion campaign. Court documents indicate that the company believes the collection was lost or sold without payment by Law.

However, Law has also filed a lawsuit against Bricks & Minifigs, alleging that her store was seized without notice or compensation.
Schneider has reportedly spent time in a Utah County jail. Court records also show he is facing misdemeanor charges including stalking, targeted residential picketing, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespass.
The Saga Takes Another Twist
The legal action represents the most significant escalation in the dispute to date. Rather than playing out solely on YouTube and social media, the battle has now moved into the courtroom.
However, the situation has taken on an additional layer of complexity. In a YouTube video posted on May 30, Schneider claimed that “At any moment, I could be arrested without bail for some mystery crime.” He added that he has fled to Mexico to avoid arrest.

While the outcome remains uncertain, the lawsuit ensures that the controversy surrounding the missing LEGO collection is far from over. What started as a disagreement over a collection of Star Wars LEGO sets has evolved into a sprawling conflict involving collectors, creators, corporations, law enforcement, and now the courts.
Regardless of how the various lawsuits are ultimately resolved, it has already become one of the internet’s most unusual investigations of 2026.
