The Cake Bake Shop at Walt Disney World is facing a growing number of employee lawsuits in Florida courts. Former workers have accused the restaurant and bakery of labor violations connected to tipped wage practices.

The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers opened at Disney’s BoardWalk in late 2024. The restaurant operates as an independent business tenant at Walt Disney World rather than a Disney-owned dining location.

WDWNT was the first to report on the Cake Bake Shop Disney World lawsuits about the wage back allegations in February 2026.

Several of the Cake Bake Shop Disney World lawsuits focus on claims involving tipped wages. Former servers and bartenders allege that management required them to spend large portions of their shifts performing non-tipped work while receiving a reduced tipped wage rate.

Federal labor law allows employers to pay tipped workers below the standard minimum wage if employee tips make up the difference. However, employers cannot assign excessive non-tipped duties while continuing to pay the lower rate.

According to multiple court filings, at least 11 former employees claim they spent significant time completing tasks such as washing dishes, cleaning floors, stocking supplies, polishing silverware, and moving furniture during shifts. Several former workers believed those duties consumed substantial portions of their workdays.

The newest filing adds to this list of employee complaints.

Recent Filing Adds to Legal Dispute

One of the newest Cake Bake Shop lawsuits came from former server Alexandria Pope. Public reports state that Pope filed her complaint in April 2026.

According to coverage of the court filing, Pope alleges she performed extensive non-tipped labor while earning tipped wages during her employment. She is seeking damages to a total of $4,804 plus attorney’s fees and interest.

The lawsuit reportedly included claims involving dishwashing, mopping floors, polishing silverware, and rearranging furniture.

Her complaint described the situation as follows:

“Rather than being ‘occasional,’ the side work that Plaintiff was required to undertake occupied substantial discrete and insular periods of the Plaintiff’s workday. Plaintiff was required to work for substantial periods of time before Plaintiff’s tip-producing shift began. Plaintiff was additionally required to work for substantial periods of time after Plaintiff’s shift concluded. Plaintiff had sustained periods of time during shifts where only side work tasks were being performed.”

Additionally, Pope alleges that the company took parts of her diminished wages for things such as “required footwear” and “uniform cleaning.”

Disney World Restaurant Lawsuits Share Similar Claims

The Cake Bake Shop Disney World lawsuits are not currently combined into a class action case. However, many complaints contain similar allegations regarding tipped labor practices and payroll deductions.

Public reports indicate that labor attorney Tanner Riche represents several former employees involved in the litigation.

Neither The Cake Bake Shop nor The Walt Disney Company has issued a detailed public response regarding the allegations described in the lawsuits.

Labor Laws Remain a Major Focus

The legal dispute reflects wider debates within the restaurant industry over tipped wage laws. Similar lawsuits have appeared across the United States in recent years. Many cases focus on how much non-tipped work employers can assign before workers must receive the full minimum wage.

The outcome of the Cake Bake Shop Disney World lawsuits may depend on payroll records, employee schedules, written policies, and timekeeping documentation.

The lawsuits also highlight the relationship between Disney and independently operated businesses located on Disney property. Although Disney leases space to third-party restaurants and retailers, those companies manage their own hiring and payroll systems.

The cases remain active in Florida courts. Additional lawsuits could still emerge as more former employees come forward.
