The event occurred mid-ride when an acrylic glass panel on the water slide shattered, injuring one guest and sending water rushing into a public area of the ship. This unexpected incident sparked confusion and concern among passengers.

Incident Overview

The chaotic scene unfolded when a glass panel on the ship’s water slide broke while a guest was riding it. In the video footage circulating online, startled passengers can be heard screaming as water cascaded into the area below. Several individuals are seen shouting for the slide to be stopped as water poured from the broken panel above. The incident caused a disruption on the ship, drawing the attention of both passengers and crew members.

Royal Caribbean later confirmed the occurrence in an official statement. According to the company, the broken acrylic glass panel led to the injury of an adult guest riding the slide at the time of the incident. Though details about the nature of the injury have not been fully disclosed, the company confirmed that the guest was immediately attended to by medical personnel on board.

Passenger Reactions and Safety Concerns

The video footage from the scene shows a mixture of shock and confusion among the passengers who were present when the glass shattered. Several people can be heard shouting for help or attempting to alert the crew, yelling “Stop the slide.” The unexpected flooding of the public area and the cries of alarm added to the panic. It’s unclear how long the water continued to pour into the public space before the situation was brought under control.

Water slides on cruise ships are popular attractions, and the incident has raised concerns about safety protocols for these attractions, especially when mechanical failures occur. While the exact cause of the glass panel’s breakage remains under investigation, this event serves as a reminder of the potential risks associated with such high-energy recreational features.

Ongoing Investigation

Royal Caribbean has stated that it is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the glass panel’s failure. The cruise line has not disclosed whether any maintenance or design issues may have contributed to the incident. The company has emphasized that the safety of its guests is a top priority, and it is working to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
