Meet ‘n Greets at World Showcase just became a bit more interesting…

It’s a big day for Epcot as the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, alongside the head of Disney Parks, Josh D’Amaro, were out and about touring the theme park which remains a work in progress. The two joined other members of Disney leadership as the Board of Directors for the company is meeting all this week to determine the “health” of the company.

Following the devastating flop that is Lightyear, The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors (including CEO Bob Chapek) will come together in Florida for a multi-day “health check” of the company. This pre-planned and pre-scheduled series of sessions will cover such topics as an extension of the CEO’s contract, Disney Parks operations, Disney cruise line milestones, and more. With the company reeling after Pixar’s latest movie has bombed harder than any other non-pandemic Pixar film in history, it’s likely the Board will also be looking at what went wrong and how to reorient the company. Some insiders expect the company will address whether or not to return to a jettisoned strategy of moderating away from political positions and messaging.

It may have been quite the shock for in-the-know guests and influencers as they witnessed Disney top brass making their way around the park.

Obviously we’re not recommending or suggesting you boo people who work for Disney, even if it’s the CEO. Booing tends not to explain what it is that you’re disgruntled or upset about. But we include the latter or the two above tweets to show that it’s not so much fun being a Disney executive and traveling to the parks when guests can be so polarized about the political decisions your company is involved in.

Based on Chapek prowling the parks, let’s just say that the chances of his demise may be greatly overestimated by his detractors. Now let’s just hope we can get a leak or two out of the big meetings in Orlando this week.
