Hollywood has long been a place where public figures keep in line with the prevailing political winds. Speaking positively about Donald Trump or his administration is generally a career hazard for actors working under the Disney umbrella or starring in Marvel blockbusters. Yet in a stunning turn, one of the biggest names in entertainment has broken that mold. Chris Pratt, beloved by audiences as Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films, went on Bill Maher’s podcast and defended the Trump administration — earning rare public agreement from Maher himself.

Pratt Pushes Back on Hatred Politics

Appearing on Maher’s Club Random podcast, Pratt rejected the idea that opposition to Trump should mean rooting for failure. He made it clear that, regardless of partisan divisions, the success of an administration should be welcomed if it means better outcomes for the American people.

“I’d hate to be so mired in hatred for the president that any success from his administration is something I’d have an allergic reaction to,” Pratt said in a statement that could be felt like a shockwave throughout Hollywood, where hating Trump has become a (failing) industry. “I want them all to be successful.”

Pratt specifically cited Trump’s appointment of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Married into the Kennedy family through Katherine Schwarzenegger, Pratt has unique proximity to RFK Jr. and applauded his initiatives aimed at removing “terrible, toxic stuff” from children’s food.

The point was simple: if an administration is delivering on policies that improve lives, Hollywood shouldn’t be allergic to admitting it.

Bill Maher’s Unexpected Agreement

What happened next may have been even more shocking. Bill Maher — a comedian who has built a career as a liberal critic of conservatives — not only listened but agreed with Pratt.

“He’s not crazy,” Maher said, speaking of RFK. “What makes us sick is the toxicity.”

He later went on to note: “I said to him when he was here, ‘I don’t agree with everything you said, and I don’t think your father would either, but your father would be so proud that you stuck to your guns like more than anybody.’ I mean this guy, when this guy believes something you cannot move him off of it with your bribes. That’s for better and worse,”

Bill Maher Trump Dinner

Maher has recently railed against what he calls “pre-hating,” the instinct to despise Trump or his allies before policies are even implemented. Here, in real time, he validated Pratt’s argument that reflexive hatred helps no one and corrodes the culture. Maher also recently attended a dinner at the White House with Trump facilitated by Kid Rock after which Maher offered Trump praise, much to the chagrin of the Hollywood liberal elite.

In a media environment where Hollywood voices overwhelmingly condemn Trump, this exchange stood out as a rare moment of common ground — an A-List Marvel star and an HBO host agreeing that civility and pragmatism matter more than political vendettas.

A Disney-Marvel Darling Breaks Ranks

Chris Pratt is not a fringe player in Hollywood. He’s the face of Disney Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, the lead of Universal’s Jurassic World series, and one of the most bankable stars in the business.

Bob Iger Chris Pratt

A figure with that level of industry dependence on Disney feeling comfortable speaking publicly about not hating Trump’s administration is extraordinary. Disney has leaned heavily into progressive branding over the past decade, with Marvel often positioned as one of its most politically vocal banners. Pratt’s words disrupt that carefully curated narrative.

Of course, Pratt has faced scrutiny from online activists many times in the past. His church attendance, perceived conservatism, and reluctance to broadcast left-leaning politics have all been used to label him as “different” from his Hollywood peers, which in that world is a cancelable offense.

But this latest move is his most direct statement yet — a willingness to defend a Trump-led initiative without apology.

Why This Moment Matters

The exchange carries weight for several reasons:

  1. Star Power: Pratt isn’t a supporting actor or fading celebrity. He’s one of the most recognizable names in entertainment, tied to Disney and Marvel at the highest levels.
  2. The Maher Factor: Bill Maher’s agreement gives cover to more center-left figures who may feel exhausted by partisan vitriol. His platform amplifies Pratt’s words beyond conservative circles.
  3. Cultural Cracks in Hollywood’s Wall: While most celebrities avoid even a neutral comment on Trump, Pratt and Maher’s conversation hints at growing fatigue with endless hostility.
  4. Disney’s Narrative Control: For a Marvel frontman to say this while working under Disney’s brand dominance highlights how unpredictable and disruptive individual voices can still be.

The Broader Context

Pratt’s comments arrive at a time when the entertainment industry has become more overtly partisan than ever. Studios have leaned into identity politics, many stars use award shows as political platforms, and dissent from progressive orthodoxy is often met with online mobs.

Against that backdrop, Pratt choosing to emphasize unity — and even goodwill toward the Trump administration — is radical by Hollywood standards. The fact that Bill Maher echoed him only underscores the growing realization that relentless partisanship is exhausting America.

Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt has done what few of his peers would dare: spoken a word of defense for the Trump administration in public, on a platform run by one of the left’s most famous entertainers. That Maher himself agreed is the twist that makes this story impossible to ignore and further cements Maher as a more centrist force.

For Disney, Marvel, and Hollywood as a whole, the implications are striking. If a Marvel darling can defend Trump-era initiatives without flinching, it suggests that the industry’s carefully enforced political uniformity may not hold forever.

And if Bill Maher is willing to nod along, perhaps the cultural tide is beginning to shift toward something rare in modern politics: hoping for success, even if it comes from the other side.

It’s nice. It is nice when a white dude like Chris Pratt stands up for their morals/ values against the social onslaught always present. He’s such a nice foil to the putz’s like feige and gunn. You know neither of those turds believe the things they spew. They likely can’t stand the course of things either, yet they’re so spineless and lacking a single strand of moral fiber. They bow down, compromise and grovel to keep their positions. I despise a “man” like james gunn. I love a dude like Chris Pratt.

He’s absolutely right. People shouldn’t be so caught up in hating Trump that they ignore the good things that he’s doing.

But that’s not how lefties’ minds work. TDS is too far ingrained into their minds.

On a side note:

I had a rare night off tonight and I spent it listening to the Beatles. If no one here reading has ever had the pleasure of delving into their catalog, I highly recommend investing a little time.
I love them boys! I love ‘em!
On a side note: one THE biggest contributor to the “”””””” Beatles”””””””” is a nerd who was forced to work with them as their producer.
He produced the strings on “Eleanor Rigby” as a hallmark.
Yet he was so SO much more.

5th f***in Beatle: George Martin!

Bad mutherphucker, that classicaly trained, Brit was!

Pratt has always been admirable in the way he is quietly Christian and conservative in an industry that explicitly hates that sort of thing.

He also doesn’t take any far out there roles which would require him to abandon or ignore his values. Though working for the House of Mouse is getting close to the eye of the storm.
