According to the latest Daredevil: Born Again Nielsen data, Marvel’s latest Disney+ series is a major flop, failing to appear on Nielsen’s weekly streaming charts for a single episode. This marks the first time in Marvel Cinematic Universe history that an original Disney+ series has not charted even once during its run.
Nielsen released streaming ratings for the week of April 14–20, 2025, which included the release of Daredevil: Born Again’s ninth and final episode, “Straight to Hell.” That episode, like the eight before it, failed to break into Nielsen’s top 10 original streaming shows. The cutoff to make the chart that week was 385 million minutes, achieved by Paramount+’s Mobland—a series with fewer available episodes than Daredevil: Born Again.

This data confirms that not only did the finale fall below the chart threshold, but the entire season did as well. It’s a stark contrast to previous Marvel series, even underperformers like She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Agatha All Along, and Secret Invasion, all of which charted during their respective debuts.
A Season Without a Single Nielsen Appearance
While Marvel has not (and likely won’t) released official streaming numbers, the Nielsen ratings speak volumes. The organization tracks all Disney+ accounts in the U.S. through opt-in data, and it’s considered the industry standard for measuring performance across streaming platforms. At the same time, Disney-owned Samba TV has not released any household metrics for the show—a move that suggests internal expectations were not met.

Here are the approximate viewership figures each episode would have needed to break the chart, first compiled by Cosmic Book News:
- Episode 1/2: Under 465 million minutes
- Episode 3: Under 464 million minutes
- Episode 4: Under 373 million minutes
- Episodes 5/6: Under 344 million minutes
- Episode 7: Under 470 million minutes
- Episode 8: Under 463 million minutes
- Episode 9: Under 385 million minutes
These numbers suggest the show underperformed week after week, with no signs of a last-minute audience surge or binge-watching uptick.
What Comes Next?
Despite the disappointing performance, Daredevil: Born Again has not been canceled. Season 2 is reportedly in development, with Jessica Jones actress Krysten Ritter set to return. Marvel actor Charlie Cox recently offered optimism about the new direction, stating the second season has stronger writing and a more ensemble feel, hinting at a course correction.
“I don’t want to oversell it,” Cox said. “But I do happen to think it’s some of the best writing we’ve ever had on this show.”

There were many complaints about the series from longtime fans of the original Netflix Daredevil. This ranged from overt political commentary to slow pacing, misuse of legacy characters, forced MCU cameos, and more.
Still, with Disney scaling back on big-budget Marvel content following underwhelming returns from several projects, Season 2 may not come with the same resources or expectations.

Viewers and investors alike will likely be watching closely to see whether the brand can rebound—or if Daredevil: Born Again becomes just another cautionary flop in the post-Endgame era.
