David Tennant Claims ‘Doctor Who’ Embodies The LGBTQ+ Agenda, Latest Special’s Ratings Are A Pyrrhic Victory

The concept of fishing is a pretty simple one: 1) bait your hook with a tasty worm, 2) toss the line into the water, and 3) wait until a hapless fish chomps on it before reeling ‘er in. Naturally it’s harder to do in practice, mainly because of number 3 – no one has the patience to wait for the fish anymore.

The Meep in Doctor Who Special One: The Star Beast

This apparently also includes the BBC and the Doctor Who franchise in general. What gets me is that it should have been the easiest thing in the world!

After the disastrous Jodie Whittaker run which saw her star as the first female Doctor (a run which saw the show shed viewers in droves), the BBC had seemingly stumbled upon the golden strategy for franchise salvation: announce to the world the glorious return of Russel T. Davies (the guy who originally revitalized Doctor Who back in 2008) and arguably the most popular actor to play the Doctor, David Tenant, to lead three brand new specials in a Hail Mary attempt to save the show from imminent cancellation.

The Doctor (David Tennant) and Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) in Doctor Who Special One: The Star Beast

On paper, the plan was simple – 1) bait the fans turned off by the outrageous woke nonsense of the last few years of Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor, 2) wheel out the Tennant memberberries to remind them of what they loved about the show and then 3) switch out Tennant with a flamboyantly gay Doctor of colour in Ncuti Gatwa afterwards.

Sadly, it seems as though everyone involved just could not help themselves and, like overeager children, bypassed the first two steps and immediately went to step 3. Within 10 minutes of this new special, entitled “The Star Beast,” the audience was bludgeoned over the head with so much woke messaging it would make even the most hardened ANTIFA protestor blush. (For a full breakdown of just what happened, you can check out this article by minty-new TPP Editor-in-Chief John Trent.)

Old habits die hard I guess.

Worse still, it seemed that nobody in this production, from the BBC executives, to Russel, to the actors themselves, could keep it in their pants, as even David Tennant was quoted as saying in a recent interview that the the transgender agenda is embodied in Doctor Who. He said, “It’s rather lovely and important and suits what Doctor Who’s all about.”

As reported by Yahoo! News, Tennant went on to state, “The Doctor has always supported the other, the unusual, the disenfranchised. That’s what that show’s about.

He added, “Most people are decent, honest, understanding people who just want to live together harmoniously. We just need to banish the noise and banish the hate.”

In a post-Panderverse world, these words, while sounding nice on the surface, ring hollow and belie the true actions of many of those who worship the cult of The Message by further dividing and shaming the majority of the population, who have not become more progressive over time but rather more progressively tired of it all.

We saw some very interesting reactions on Twitter/X about this special, namely a number of posts of fans reveling in so-called right-wing tears, like this one here:

CrypticWhovian on X

One fan “owned the haters” by crowing about the overall success of the special and citing the Radio Times, who breathlessly declared that it was “the biggest drama launch of 2023” with an overnight audience of 5.08 million!

CitizenKandor on X

Sadly, those fans apparently didn’t bother reading the rest of the article, which went on to clarify that the special was soundly trounced by something called “Strictly Come Dancing” that brought in 7.67 million viewers.

Never letting facts get in the way of an approved narrative however, woke Who fans grabbed on to the fact that it was still “the biggest Doctor Who overnight figure since the 2019 New Year Special – Resolution”, seeming to forget that: 1) Resolution was the first special featuring the female Doctor before her catastrophic series and the ratings collapse of the show and 2) that special back in 2019 actually brought in 7.13 million viewers, 2 million more than the one which just aired.

While the BBC themselves went all in:

Some were quick to point out that the age of the Rose character raised some uncomfortable questions:

Still other fans were less than enthused by what they saw:

Ultimately, however, it seems that the woke have won and have firmly laid claim to the Doctor at last:

I daresay, however, that it is a Pyrrhic victory.

This was the last, best chance for the BBC to revitalize their glorious old franchise and undo the damage they’ve inflicted on it ever since the end of Capaldi’s run. Instead they threw it away and doubled-down on the decisions that have cost them their viewership and nearly saw the cancellation of the show.

Consider this: even pulling out all the stops, and getting the Whovian equivalents of George Lucas and Mark Hamill to return, nearly 30% of the previous viewing audience from 2019 couldn’t be bothered to come back and chose to watch a show about dancing instead. The BBC’s only hope was in good word of mouth eventually leading to a viewing comeback, similar to what happened with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Instead, I can almost guarantee that the numbers for the next special will be much lower than 5 million.

Why? Because the fans are gone. South Park revealed that the Emperor not only has no clothes, but is a ridiculous meme, and people are no longer angry, just apathetic. What’s the opposite of love? Not hate, but indifference, succinctly summed up by this fan here:

So congratulations! You’ve “owned” people who don’t even care anymore. If the peak viewership this past weekend was only 5 million, imagine what the start of Gatwa’s series will be like. It’s becoming more and more clear that the future for this time-traveller is looking very bleak indeed.

I’d say loyal Doctor Who fans have been sonically screwed.
Ah well, what’s next on the “Let’s Destroy All That Was Once Good” agenda? Will Paddington Bear be outed for wearing that rain mac over zippo in the near future? How about Peter Pan? I guess this gives British culture and “To Be Or Not To Be” a whole new dimension–too bad these folks are, like the Tardis, bigger and more hollow on the INside of their brain pans than on the outside.
