There is a rumor going around, with strong evidence, that Disneyland Imagineers have deconstructed the Main Street Electrical Parade “Stars and Stripes” float.
Main Street Electrical Parade returns to Disneyland on April 22 with an ALL-NEW FLOAT inspired by Mary Blair’s art style from ‘It’s A Small World’.
It features characters from Encanto, Jungle Book, Raya and the Last Dragon, Aladdin, Coco, Moana, Brave, Princess and the Frog”. pic.twitter.com/Vg4upAdrjE

Maybe it’s not so new after all…
The oft-used finale float for the Main Street Electrical Parade was a callback to Walt Disney’s patriotic love of America. Featuring a flowing American Flag illuminated by a multitude of flashing lights, as well as using seven total vehicles to operate the single float, the equipment left quite the impression.
Now, however, it looks like all of the American celebration has been removed, the multiple displays disassembled, and all of it replaced with Small World style references to newer Disney cartoon characters.

Note the willow wisps match to the same figure on the Stars and Stripes float.
At a time when the west is under threat of attack like never since World War II, it is poor timing to say the least that Disneyland is scrapping a display of American kindredness. How this will play out in southern California may be different now than it would have been a couple of months ago. Although if Disney doesn’t confirm the repurposing of the float, I suppose most people won’t know that this new display is made from what once was a patriotic salute to the United States.
It is a sad thing to see Disney stripping floats of American symbolism rather than building new floats. At least Walt’s park still has Lincoln…
