Jonas J Campbell asks “What is a Pride Month Piece of Content?” Luckily, Disney has made a list.
Ever since I started a YouTube channel that aims to shine a light on woke elements of pop culture, I get a lot of pushback on what is considered “woke” and what is “definitely not woke.” While it can be subjective at times, I have to laugh when someone tries to tell me that non-binary characters in children’s show is not a representation of woke values, or that woke used to mean something else so my argument is invalid.
Well, today Disney did me a favor and outright stated that the following shows contain LGBTQ+ content by adding them to their “Pride Collection.”
I’m saving this list here at That Park Place for use as reference for myself and to be helpful to any people wishing to know how Disney classifies its content. Also, it might come in handy for when somebody questions if a children’s show is “woke.” Productions that are specifically marketed to underage viewers appear in bold text.

Of course, this is not an exhaustive list since other Disney+ content has been produced that heavily incorporates LGBTQ+ themes, whether or not Disney includes it in their Pride Collection this year. For instance, the episode of the Disney Junior reboot of Muppet Babies that features Gonzo coming out as a drag queen to his pre-school friends would definitely qualify as a GLAAD Nominated series but somehow did not make it into the Pride Collection this year.

Soooo…a bunch of crap TV? That checks out.
Owl House is definitely not garbage. That at least made a story first, wokeness second.
They couldn’t have made it easier to keep track of what to avoid.
That’s most programming. Just avoid Disney Plus.
Jonah, I saw on various sites that Disney is promoting/patting-themselves-on-the-back , their installation of “pride” sign photo-ops in each of their FL parks. What happened to the “theme” in “theme parks”? Regardless of how any attendee feels about a social, sexual, political issue…things focusing on these shouldn’t be in a Disney park. People have preferred Disney vs. local amusement parks because such care & quality was put in to creating a immersive theme to transport you away. If that illusion is disrupted so drastically by “outside” intrusions, the worth of a Disney experience & ticket is degraded.
Putting this type of thing “on stage” is poor show (vs. having it behind the scenes for employees. Even you can argue it isn’t good). Thinking of the recent changes with Reed Creek & FL, I’m thinking aloud and wondering if subjecting in-park “political” demonstrations to paying guests (guests of all ages) falls under the scope of their permits/licensing?
While I know first-hand some of the items listed here are obnoxiously woke, thanks largely to your videos, Andor also featured a lesbian relationship as a minor plot point, along with diverse casting, yet it was the most anti-woke thing to come out of pop culture in the past 5 years. Or look at GotG 3 — as Andre from Midnights Edge pointed out, it may appear “woke” on a superficial level but when you delve deep into the plot, it’s the exact opposite. Posting a list of content Disney chose to promote comes off more as an anti-gay witch hunt than anything else.
