Do you remember the book “Grover’s Bad, Awful Day”? If you do, you might have some insight into new Disney executive Geoff Morrell’s yesterday.

Yesterday, Mr. Morrell accidentally posted the opening date for Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind before The Walt Disney Company had done so, and before the company was ready. That wasn’t the only way in which the former BP executive and government liaison messed up…
Our Original Article on the Hiring of Geoff Morrell
In case you're wondering who potentially leaked the opening time frame of the new attraction, he's the head of communications, gov relations, corp social & environmental teams.
And also worked for BP as head of US comms after the Deepwater Horizon disasterhttps://t.co/8nH4lBFoRy— Barnabas T. Bullion (@BTBullion) February 23, 2022

Wowza. So you’re a brand new executive at Disney who has been hired essentially to navigate the complexities of various governments The Walt Disney Company deals with — including a Chinese government that could cease billions of assets from you in the blink of an eye (thanks, Iger) — and you start off by getting that much wrong? Blame the intern time?
Well, you heard it here, folks. Memorial Day Weekend, we’re riding Cosmic Rewind. I guess That Park Place will have to send some reporters to get a review up. At least now we have time to get everything lined up. Thanks, Geoff! And although we’re giving Mr. Morrell a bit of a hard time here, we do wish him well. Everybody has a bad day every once in a while.

Seems like a honest mistake in the cesspool of Twitter messaging. Disney should tell every employee to stop posting about the company at Twitter without vetting. This includes PR people who should know better.
