Are more cancellations besetting the newest Disney World venue? What is causing such availability so close to the opening?
Disney Parks has opened the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser reservation windows into the autumn months (Septemer, October, and November). At the same time, cancellations are becoming a real problem for the expensive role-playing experience. While Disney is opening more dates, their dates even next month are becoming available at an alarming rate.

Reviews for the experience from the first paid voyage have been mixed. Overall, guests seem to be impressed with the cast members and the dinner food offerings. Simultaneously, the light saber and bridge video game elements are receiving mediocre reception. Breakfast and lunch meals, as well as the “filler” activities, are not getting great reviews. The breakfast and lunch meals have been so poorly received that at least one Disney World journalist has said that it’s the worst Disney food ever produced. Yikes!
As we’ve said before, the Starcruiser is an experience made for a very small demographic. You probably need to really like Star Wars, have thousands of disposable income, AND enjoy role playing enough that you can sustain it for two entire days… and then you may enjoy this. There are positives and negatives for this experience, although I personally do not think the price tag is appropriate. Still, I have not ever expected that Disney would struggle to sell out the spring and summer months. That there has been availability for March and April post-opening is surprising to me (if not in the least because I would think Disney would hide that). So I also continue to wonder, is Star Wars a damaged brand?
Expect to see a bit more coverage of the Galactic Starcruiser this weekend, and we’ll continue to keep an eye on Disney’s success or struggles in monetizing this new venture. Keep checking out That Park Place for all the latest.
