Disney Parks has released an Annual Passholder magnet that combines characters from the Toy Story franchise with a visual style associated with animator Paul Rudish. The design reflects a broader pattern in Disney Parks merchandise, where known characters appear in alternative artistic styles.

The magnet draws from the aesthetic used in the Mickey Mouse shorts that premiered in 2013. Rudish developed that series for The Walt Disney Company. The show introduced a simplified and geometric style while referencing early Disney animation.

Design and Character Representation

The magnet features stylized versions of  Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Their proportions appear exaggerated, with rounded shapes and expressive faces. This approach aligns with Rudish’s design principles, which focus on clear silhouettes.

The color palette remains consistent with the original films. However, the rendering appears flatter and less detailed than in Pixar’s feature animation.

Where and When to Pick Up the Magnet

Disney has confirmed distribution details for the Toy Story Annual Passholder magnet at Walt Disney World. Passholders can pick up the magnet at EPCOT during a limited promotional window tied to the V.I.Passholder Summer Days event.

The magnet will be available from May 1 through July 31, 2026. Distribution will take place at Creations Shop, a retail location inside EPCOT. Passholders can collect the magnet during normal park operating hours.

To receive the item, guests must present a valid Walt Disney World Annual Pass and a government-issued photo ID. Disney limits distribution to one magnet per passholder. As with previous releases, availability is subject to supply.

Upcoming Toy Story Film

The magnet arrives ahead of the next installment in the Toy Story film series. Pixar and Disney have scheduled Toy Story 5 for release on June 19, 2026.

The film will continue the story of established characters, including Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie. This time they must learn how to compete for  Bonnie’s attention as she’s forgets to play with them after receiving a tablet.

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are expected to return to their roles as Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Their involvement continues a long-standing association with the franchise, which began with the original Toy Story film in 1995.

Toy Story 5 represents the first mainline sequel since Toy Story 4, which was released in 2019. The new film extends the series beyond its original four-film arc and explores the modern difficulty of balancing screen time in childhood.

Conclusion

The Toy Story Passholder magnet reflects a combination of established characters and a distinct animation style. It shows how Disney adapts familiar properties through different artistic approaches. The release also highlights the role of limited-edition items in the company’s broader engagement strategy.
