It hasn’t gone over so smoothly trying to get The Muppets to be a major hit within Disney. Outside of the Muppet movies from the last decade, shows and streaming attempts have struggled.
Are things finally looking up for the Muppets? Well, maybe not for Kermit, Fonzie and Miss Piggy… but perhaps for Dr. Teeth, Janice and the rest of the Electric Mayhem. And no, we didn’t forget about you, Animal.
Disney is attempting again to get the Muppets to be a notable property, this time by bringing back the psychadelic, genre-tripping band once led by legendary entertainer Jim Henson. Can they make it happen this go-around? And will Rowlf the Dog make an appearance at some point in a blues joint playing piano? We’d love to see a callback to “Dog City”. Well, here’s the trailer for Muppet Mayhem, and we have to say this looks better than some of the most recent Muppet stuff. Here’s to hoping it is executed very well with a fun final delivery. After all, Disney is looking to lower budgets, and sure the Muppets are one way to do that!
