A new development is going under construction and it is as close to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge as you can get. The construction is literally about a tree’s width from guest roadways in Animal Kingdom’s Lodge… and the question now is how Disney might be able to maintain immersion with multi-story residential structures adjacent to the parking lot. The whole idea behind the Lodge is to make guests feel as if they are in Africa. That’s going to be quite difficult with Waterstar Orlando putting in a multi-purpose development so close.

Needless to say, this is one 35-acre parcel that Disney Parks should be kicking themselves for not picking up. The opportunity to own it could have even given Disney means to expand Animal Kingdom Lodge more one day should the desire arise. Unfortunately for Disney World, instead they’ll probably trying to find ways to mask the border to the massive resort instead.
Who knows, though? Maybe the new neighbors will be very happy to stroll across for a meal at Boma? I might be willing to buy a condo just for that purpose!
