There is a huge amount riding on the success of Secret Invastion for Disney+. The streaming-exclusive mini-series starring Samuel L. Jackson may be an indicator of Marvel’s strength or weakness very soon.
We’re potentially down one main villain with the recent criminal case issues for Jonathan Majors who plays (or played) Kang for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4, 5, and 6 Multiverse Saga. Now, the studio is introducing more multiverse badniks, and they’re bringing one of their biggest stars in Samuel L. Jackson to try to punch in the success. But with Disney+ ratings on the decline according to Nielsen and Samba TV, can this be a new Marvel show that bucks the trend and sticks viewers back on their couches to see what’s coming?
If not, Marvel could be in more trouble than many believe. After all, if there are no eyes watching the new bad guys or anticipating the new set of Avengers coming to save the day, then Marvel quickly becomes more like Star Wars and less like the golden goose it just recently was indeed.
We’ll follow the ratings of the series once it makes its debut in June. That’s along with covering the reception of Loki — both series are integral to Marvel’s future success. In the meantime, here’s the trailer:
