Now that The Walt Disney Company has made the cultural and political decision to go up against the Florida law (that forbids teaching sexual orientation or gender theory to kindergartners through third graders in official school curriculum), their subsidiaries are joining suit.
Here is a rundown of the various Disney subsets that have released statements on Twitter. As you read these, remember that almost no other entertainment company is joining Disney in this strategy, rightly or wrongly:
All of us at Pixar stand with our LGBTQIA+ colleagues, friends, families, and fans around the world who are targeted by laws that marginalize and diminish their identities and lives. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/bJScneApX0

To our LGBTQIA+ community in the studio and across the world, Disney Animation stands by you! We denounce any legislation that infringes on your fundamental human rights. You deserve to be safe, respected, and able to live your lives as your whole selves free from discrimination.

The major divisions of Disney, as well as Disney itself, have not posted tweets or statements (other than Bob Chapek’s) that we can find.
Of note: no part of Disney has made a claim or statement of abstention from the issue, nor has any Disney employee voiced favor for the Florida law or other state laws prohibiting sexual orientation or gender theory teachings to five year-olds. One might think those employees would exist, but they are for now silent. Additionally, Disney has recently been the target of a significant problem over the past week, though mainstream news is not necessarily covering it. Disney employees were arrested this past week in a human trafficking sting. Disney nor its subsidiaries seem to have commented on these offenses, on human trafficking, nor the condemnation of such.
The governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, also called out Disney for its support of the Communist Party of China. Disney nor its subsidiaries appear to have responded with statements about Chinese forced labor, slavery, genocide, nor organ harvesting.
Should any of those change, we will happily update the article.
No matter where you stand on any of these issues, you can count on That Park Place to provide the facts. Feel free to comment your thoughts in the area below.
