Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World is saying goodbye to Muppetvision 3-D after June 7th. To fill the missing attraction, Disney is opening a Villain’s show in the theater where Lightning McQueen Racing was vacated earlier. Yes, that’s two shows gone and one replacing them… but is it going to be worth seeing? Well, you can now judge for yourself.
Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After debuts in just about one week and it’s fair to say you’re likely to have “thoughts” after seeing the videos now floating around on the internet. First, we have the main theme song with glimpses into the production from Drew Disney Dude:

Disney Parks is also joining the PR game with an X account update that features some of the live actors participating in the show:

The attraction appears to be a combination of live actors dressed as villains along with pre-recorded human actors playing traditionally cartoon villains. All of this happens with nearly-total use of screens to make the show happen. If you’re thinking this could be a test run for whether or not audiences really want to sit down for bad guys in a future Villains Land at Magic Kingdom, we share your suspicion.
Personally, I worry that this show isn’t something that people really will enjoy. It leans too heavily into “filler”. I don’t know that small children are going to be able to get through it, yet I also don’t see it making many mature adults happy either given that it’s campy songs about villains from Disney kids’ movies. How big is the demographic that would want this? Another problem for Disney is that this will surely be compared to the new How to Train Your Dragon show over at Epic Universe. To say that’s a comparison that fails for the House of Mouse would be an understatement.
Could it be fine? Sure. And maybe that’s good enough for now. But personally, I’d rather be watching Kermit and Fozzie help find Bean than sitting down for this one. Let us know in the comments if you feel the same way.
