Update (1:51 PM EST, 10/7/24): This article originally followed meteorological predictions of a Category Four out at sea for Hurricane Milton. The hurricane has now strengthened unexpectedly to a Category Five hurricane. It is still expected to make landfall as a Category Three near the Tampa Clearwater area. Disney World may see sustained wind of 85mph for six hours with gusts above 100mph. We encourage our readers to take extreme caution with this storm and consider its potentially catastrophic and life-ending dangers.

Walt Disney World is preparing for Hurricane Milton and a potential direct hit from a storm that could now reach category four status before landfall.

As many Floridians are preparing to exit the state, That Park Place reporters have spoken with cast members of Disney who have informed us of major steps the resort is taking. According to our sources, Walt Disney World bookings for theme parks on Wednesday are no longer available to the public. Expectations are the parks will close and all currently held reservations will be canceled — but we must firmly say that decision has not yet been finalized. Additionally, we are told all new hotel bookings are being blocked for at least Tuesday night and Wednesday night. Disney officials reportedly feel they need every possible available room for emergency cast members who will “ride through” the storm.

At this time, we anticipate hotel guests at Disney World will be advised to stay in their rooms and prepackaged meals will be made available. Based on past hurricane situations, Disney will probably begin taking down any decorations that could become airborne. We believe those preparations may happen starting Monday.

We will continue to monitor the situation hourly and report accurately on the information. Our local reporters have safety plans and will be in the parks both before and after the hurricane. We encourage all our readers to proceed with caution if you have any plans in the predicted path of the storm.
