Disney World may have finally hit the sweet spot on what consumers will pay for a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth. Hotel discounts during peak season points to an overshoot.
If you’ve been following my discussions with Valliant Renegade on his YouTube channel, you know that I have speculated based on queue times and other data that Disney World has reached the top point for what they can charge. Going any higher than the current costs for a vacation (not just tickets but food, lodging, perks, Genie+, etc) would likely result in diminishing returns. Already the costs are far outstripping inflation in other areas, but consumers thus far have shown resilience in wanting to take their families to Disney post-pandemic lockdowns. Has Disney gone a little too far, though? Is the recession already hurting reservations?
The reason to ask is this latest information out of WDWNT. It’s no shock hat Disney World would have hotel cost reductions during less-crowded times. January through February, sans President’s Day Weekend is one of the emptiest times you can visit the resort. December, however, is a totally different story. People love visiting Disney World during the Christmas season! So why on earth would Disney be dropping hotel prices by a hundred dollars during what should be one of the biggest peak seasons of the year?
This is one of those times when I say, “read the tea leaves.” They’re not discounting like this unless they need to. If you’ve been thinking about going to WDW this winter, it’s a great chance for you to go on a “deal”. Here’s the info:
