Disney World Is Experiencing Technical Difficulties this Morning with Online Services

A software outage is causing all sorts of problems at Walt Disney World this morning. Many rides are down, phone app services are disrupted and more.

It may be a very interesting day at Walt Disney World, at the very least for this morning. The MyDisney app that allows guests to make reservations, sign in for restaurant proximity and generally plan the day… is down. It’s down on desktops, it’s down on mobile and it’s down on the apps. That means we’re starting the day off at Walt Disney World with no ability to access Lightning Lane reservations, Genie+ or do mobile orders for food. Even more interestingly, it means park passes can’t be accessed. We haven’t heard yet if Magic Bands are working, but we presume so. However, the turnstiles at all four parks are a huge mess this morning.

Editor’s Note: As this article was being prepared for publication, we received word that some limited features have come back online. We were also told that this may be temporary and to expect more outages for the next while.

As a result of whatever is causing Disney this major software outage, we’re seeing some attractions unable to open to start the day. Some of those attractions are ones you really don’t ever see go down.

This is not the first time that a software outage has caused Disney World major headaches since switching to a software-dependent system. And though we expect all of this to be resolved, it would also seem that the flow of guests and wait times will be thrown completely out of whack as a result of guests being unable to make reservations during the normal period.

We’ll keep an eye on the situation and update this article should the software status change.
