A fire broke out Friday morning at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, damaging multiple vehicles and temporarily halting operations at one of the resort’s major parking facilities.
According to officials, the blaze began just before 10 a.m. PT on the fifth floor of the Pixar Pals Parking Structure, a multi-level garage located on the northwest edge of the resort. The Anaheim Fire Department responded quickly to reports of a vehicle fire, but not before the flames had already begun spreading to adjacent cars.

Anaheim Police and Fire Public Information Officer Sgt. Jacob Gallacher confirmed to USA TODAY that no injuries were reported. While the initial assumption was that the fire started in a Toyota RAV4, a later update revealed that investigators now believe the fire originated from a Kia Sportage SUV, with the flames erupting in the vehicle’s engine. The exact cause remains unknown at this time.

In total, Gallacher said between six and twelve neighboring cars were affected by the fire. The damage varied by proximity to the source—some suffered only smoke damage, while others were rendered undrivable due to direct flame exposure.
Though the fire occurred near one of Disneyland’s key guest entry points, the broader theme park operations were not directly impacted. However, the incident did force a temporary shutdown of certain functions Friday morning. Disneyland Resort spokesperson Jessica Jakary confirmed that operations at the Pixar Pals structure were “paused” following the fire, but by early afternoon, levels 1 through 3 had reopened to guests.

Photos and videos from the scene circulated quickly on social media, showing thick black smoke rising from the upper levels of the parking structure. Some guests reported delayed entry into the park due to detours or altered parking instructions, although Disneyland’s internal transportation systems continued running.
This is not the first time Disneyland has dealt with fire-related incidents in recent years. A small blaze at Fantasmic! in 2023 led to the indefinite suspension of the nighttime show, which has yet to return to its original form.

The resort has since faced renewed scrutiny over its fire safety and response protocols, though today’s incident appears to have been contained swiftly and without injury.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into what sparked the vehicle fire, and guests who believe their vehicles may have been affected are encouraged to contact the Anaheim Police Department or Disneyland Guest Services for assistance.
