Another incident involving a guest acting bizarrely occurred at Disneyland Resort yesterday. Now some people are wondering why Disneyland security was so slow to respond significantly?
A Disneyland guest disembarked from their boat inside It’s a Small World on Sunday, November 26th, 2023. Not only did they exit the transport vehicle, but they also disrobed of their clothes down to their underwear. And, in addition to that degree of strangeness, the individual also walked around the sets of It’s a Small World, touching fragile animatronics and putting pressure on items that likely were never designed for such interactions. In the background of the footage, a woman can be heard calling for the man to stop moving around and sit down. What is less clear is if this is a security person with Disney or if this is an attraction cast member waiting for security to arrive. Significant time passes with no sign of security appearing via backstage doors and or maintenance access to stop the man and/or remove him from the sets.

One of the major concerns that seems to present itself once more with this situation is that Disney security doesn’t seem to be responsive in the way that one might hope. This follows a trend of similar situations in which guests have been led to believe help isn’t coming in the case of a dangerous situation — at least not in a timely and necessary manner. What if this man had been physically violent? What if he had worked to damage the historic ride? What if he had more totally disrobed?
This reminds many people of when a massive brawl broke out in Toontown at Disneyland Resort. Again in that situation, security was not efficient in stopping the violence. As a result, the video went viral and presented Disney in a very poor fashion.
And this is not isolated to just Disneyland. Only a month ago, Disney World had its own massive fight break out in which security was slow to react and stop the aggression.
With a string of issues such as this, there’s a major criticism brewing. Yes, it’s great that Disney attempts to stop items of harm from entering into their parks. They often tout just how well the parks are surveilled with cameras and other monitoring devices. And yet, all those efforts don’t mean a thing if security is incapable of resolving massive conflicts when necessary. Just exactly how safe are we at Disney Parks if all we can do is take comfort knowing Disney is watching the chaos ensue.
It seems time for Disney to upgrade their security measures beyond just inconveniences for guests. It’s time for Disney to be inconvenienced by paying for better security and protocols. That’s far better than for people and/or attractions to be hurt.
