Disney Parks does some things very well, they do some things poorly. Here is one way they dropped the ball on the Main Street Electrical Parade and one way they excelled.
Very quickly this morning, we’d like to take an opportunity to point The Walt Disney Company, and particularly Disney Parks, into a better direction. I understand that both of those entities are huge, and sometimes mistakes can happen, but we’d like to help identify one major mistake regarding the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disneyland. There’s some room for improvement. We also want to identify one big positive.
The negative:
First off, sources have told me that the ending of the Main Street Electrical Parade was made known to everyone… and I mean everyone… via the Disney Parks Blog update. That means that at the same time the public was finding out, so were the people who perform in the show and make it happen every night. That’s poor communication, Disney. Let your cast members know first so that they can deal with the sadness of losing the opportunity, then put it into the public sphere. Take care of your employees: they take care of you.
For the positive:
Recently the parade had a problem with a cast member playing Goofy having some distress. It’s been said that it was a vision issue, but we’re not totally sure what was going on. Despite the trouble of getting the cast member out of the train, including their costume not being the show version needed for walking around the parks, operations still made the right call. Goofy was taken out of the parade and another non-costumed cast member drove the float the rest of the way. That’s how you do take care of your hard working performers. We hope everything is okay with Goofy’s friend!

In the future, let’s hope that companies like Disney are always as courteous as they can be in regards to their workers. Perhaps ending a parade’s run with an announcement that went to the public first was just an oversight this time. Mistakes happen.

You mean the loss of the American float wasn’t well received by the public? It’s a big globalist change.
All very well said WDW Pro, and yes! I hope all is well with Goofy’s friend!
