Has President Trump come to Disneyland?

A new artistic decision at Disneyland is raising eyebrows—and more than a few chuckles—as fans react to a revamped silhouette of Walt Disney installed as part of the resort’s 70th anniversary esplanade display. But it’s not the pose or Mickey Mouse that’s catching attention. It’s the hair.

Yes, the hair.

The golden silhouette now prominently featured atop the Main Street U.S.A. area of the entrance display adds a surprising detail to the legendary “Partners”-style pose: a defined hairline on Walt Disney. And according to a growing chorus on social media, that design choice has backfired spectacularly. The added hair, particularly its shape and thickness, has led many parkgoers to say the silhouette looks far more like current President Donald Trump than the animation icon himself.

The discussion first went viral thanks to theme park commentator Five Fires, who posted the original image comparison on X. In the post, Five Fires highlighted the new silhouette from the 70th anniversary installation, saying, “Anybody know who this is holding Mickeys Hand?”

It wasn’t long before social media descended on the image, with many pointing out how drastically it deviated from the clean, classic design used on items like Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary MagicBand.

The post took off quickly, with responses pouring in from confused, amused, and frankly baffled Disney fans.

“Giving Walt hair on the Disneyland 70th anniversary esplanade photo op was a horrible aesthetic choice and everyone thinks it looks like Trump,” Disney influencer Matt Desmond said. “Here’s the WDW 50th anniversary MagicBand for comparison.”

The side-by-side image comparison attached to the tweet only amplifies the issue. On the left is the new Disneyland silhouette: a gold cutout with a bulkier, rounder shape and a clearly defined head of hair. On the right is the sleek, minimalist white silhouette from the MagicBand, which maintains Walt’s classic profile without extraneous detail.

The Walt Disney World design evokes an everyman silhouette—clean, balanced, and evocative of Walt without being too specific. The Disneyland design, however, takes a sharp departure by giving Walt’s silhouette thick, combed-over hair, triggering unintentional associations with President Trump’s famously unique hairstyle and outline.

While Disney has not commented on the backlash, the online consensus is clear: this might be one of the most confusing aesthetic blunders the company has made in years. Silhouettes are meant to simplify and symbolize. This one might have done the opposite.

The question now is: will Disney quietly update or remove the design? Given the speed of social media reaction and the company’s ongoing efforts to preserve Walt Disney’s iconic image, the new photo op might not last the summer if public confusion continues.

But for now, guests entering Disneyland can enjoy a very unexpected optical illusion—a silhouette that was meant to honor Walt Disney… but might accidentally honor the 47th President of the United States instead.
