The once-beloved family sitcom Malcolm in the Middle is returning to screens via a Disney+ revival — but this isn’t the same Wilkerson family fans remember. Alongside returning stars like Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek, the new series introduces a brand-new character: a non-binary child named Kelly. And yes, this is already drawing attention for the message Disney appears to be sending.

So it’ll be dead on arrival, Disney will never learn.

ChiefBeef

They don’t care to learn. They’re religious zealots for their New Age sex cult.

Learning requires intelligence.

There’s no such thing as non-binary.

The hack writers at Disney still think the world works exactly the way they think it should. It just goes to show what happens when these people never leave their echo chambers and experience the real world.

RustyNail

Of course not. The so-called “non-binary” is nothing but a mutation of the iconic “two sexes”.

I’m so tired of Hollywood dragging old franchises back into the spotlight. I Know What You Did Last Summer, Malcolm in the Middle, another Final Destination, and now they’re making another Friday movie. Enough is enough.

If they can’t come up with anything new to bring to the screen, then they need to go away and make room for people who actually have some new ideas.

ChiefBeef

Right? Yes, the whole “non-binary character” nonsense is a big problem, but so is the fact that these studios are increasingly creatively bankrupt. Perhaps we should be thankful that so much content is being tanked by wokeness, content that might otherwise be thoughtlessly consumed, supporting the continuation of more thoughtless, creatively bankrupt content. The wokeness is causing *such* a negative reaction that it’s leading us to a hard reset, which wouldn’t have happened if all that we had to contend with was mere flavorless cash-ins.

I haven’t heard about the (remake?) of the first one, but in general they have nothing left to do when modern completely original projects fail one after another. Like in games or animation.

RustyNail

Honestly, is anyone surprised about this? I mean, seriously. Disney is lying and will lie for as long as those parasites are in this company. There will be no change. And the best to get rid of them, is to vote with our money and wake people up.

GigaChud

On the one hand, this can be explained by the fact that, as far as I heard, actor who played Dewey has now become a recluse and is clearly not in the best shape. Plus, there were queer characters in the original series. On the other hand, such crude retcons cannot help but be frightening. Especially when we are talking about a series that was one of the loudest representations of dysfunctional families in the 90s and 00s.
