The update circulated widely shortly after it was posted, reflecting ongoing public attention to her activities and schedule.

What She Shared in the Health Update

In the Dolly Parton health update, she shared news on her current recovery.

“I have some good news and a little bad news. But the good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments, and I’m improving every day. Now the bad news is, it’s gonna take me a little while before I’m ready to be up to stage-performance level, because some of the meds and treatments make me a little but swimmy-headed.”

She stated that she has been dealing with health-related challenges with her immune system and digestive system, on top of the kidney stones she has struggled with for some time.

Parton explained that her condition has required her to step back from some professional responsibilities. She specifically apologized to those who were looking forward to seeing her at Caesars Palace for the “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas.” She was originally scheduled for December 2025, before postponing to September 2026. Which has also now been cancelled.

No specific treatments, procedures, or medications were described in the post. She also did not provide additional medical context beyond the general statement about recovery.

Impact on Public Schedule and Work

Parton did not announce new performance dates in the update. She also did not confirm changes to any scheduled appearances within the message itself.

She did give a few updates on what she is currently working on.

“But the truth is, I am still working,” she said. “I still do videos. I still record. I run up and down Dollywood now and then. And I’m working hard on getting my museum and hotel open in Nashville later this year. And I am spending a lot of time writing and reworking my Broadway musical. It’s called DOLLY: A True Original Musical.”

She also joked throughout the video about her promoting even while sick and her plastic surgeons keeping her from getting old. “They say a happy heart is like good medicine,” she said smiling.

Thanking Her Fans

Parton also took the time to address her healing from the loss of her husband of nearly 59 years, Carl Thomas Dean. She said she has had her year of firsts without him, including the anniversary of his death on March 3.

“You know, that was hard for me” Parton said. “But I will always love him, and I’ll always miss him. But you would be surprised at how much your love and concern meant to me during that time.”

She joked that the number of cards and flowers she received turned her home into a garden and post office. “You have been a big part of my healing,” she told her fans.

Outlook

Dolly Parton’s health update emphasized her recovery and time away from staged commitments. She did not provide a timeline for returning to full public activity.

However, she wanted to reassure fans that she is healing and excited for several new projects.
