You may have been disappointed by D23, but one park that won’t let you down is Dollywood. The once-regional, now-globally-recognized resort is roaring with awards.

While The Walt Disney Company is diddling away their market dominance by chasing unproven virtual reality ideas instead of park capital expenditures, theme park companies like Universal Studios and Dollywood are catching up. Epic Universe in Orlando is shaping up to be something very special and now we’re getting word that Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, is taking more of those top awards they’ve been winning so frequently.
“We don’t do what we do to win awards, but they sure are nice. Seriously though, we’re proud of the recognition we receive because it means we’re doing well at what we want to do — take care of the great folks who come to visit our park year after year.”
— Dolly Parton
According to WSLS, Dollywood has taken the following major, international awards for 2022:
- Best Guest Experience (!)
- Best Children’s Area
- Best Christmas Event
Dollywood also received second-place in these categories:
- Most Beautiful Park
- Best Food
- Best Park

The wooden roller coaster Thunderhead also continues to be ranked by roller coaster aficionados with the awards team as one of the greatest wooden roller coasers in the world.
So if you haven’t been to Dollywood yet, what are you waiting for? The park recently overtook the Magic Kingdom as America’s favorite theme park according to Trip Advisor. They’ve also committed to millions upon millions of dollars in huge expansions over the next five-years, simultaneous to Disney sitting back on their laurels. It may seem crazy to consider but Dollywood now needs to be on the list of all theme park enthusiasts all over the world.
