Dollywood Goes the Extra Mile for Guests with Special Needs on July 28th

Dollywood is taking the time and the effort to provide a unique and special offering for guests with sensory concerns. We send a huge thanks to the planners!

For three hours on July 28th, Dollywood will keep a large part of the theme park limited to only guests and their families with sensory concerns. All of the Country Fair themed area will be available to guests who may struggle at times with lots of noises and sounds. No other guests will be permitted in the area from 9AM – noon. Personally, I think this is an absolutely fantastic idea and I hope they’ll continue doing this month-after-month. Being kind and thoughtful for those families with special needs is a wonderful concept that I think every good person can get behind.

This reminds me of a story I was told by a wedding venue owner. Their son has autism and they were talking about the time that he was able to meet Dolly Parton at a special Dollywood meet and greet just for people with special needs. The owner said that Dolly Parton took her time with each and every participant, making sure that they all felt special. She didn’t talk down or stay back… she made each person feel just like she was their very best friend. It’s those sorts of stories and the effort being put into Dollywood that makes so many people feel such a strong connection with the artist and her theme park!

If you have a family member or friend with special needs, make sure to let someone know at the theme park when appropriate. This can also be important at water parks. Often they will radio to those who need to know to take special care of special guests.
