Disney recently completed repairs on underground light systems in Epcot’s World Celebration neighborhood. However, it seems as though the troubled Epcot ground lights are already starting to malfunction.

When Walt Disney World Disney unveiled World Celebration as the grand centerpiece of its all new re-imagined Epcot, the ground lights were to serve as a major draw during evening hours. The ground level light strips would change colors along with the rest of the area’s lighting and Spaceship Earth itself to “dance” and perform shows patterned after whatever festival was going on at the time.
However, shortly after World Celebration opened, the lights malfunctioned, and Disney seemed to have no way of making repairs. But a whole year later, the House of Mouse was finally able to get them working again. It seemed as though World Celebration was back, exactly as intended!
For about a week.

That Park Place previously reported on malfunctions in other area lights around World Celebration, causing issues in the Epcot neighborhood’s trees and casting a rave-like strobe effect over the whole area.
But last night, during a livestream on La Reina Creole’s channel, the popular YouTuber showed that the Epcot ground lights were malfunctioning once again.
There were hot spots and uneven colors everywhere, ruining the effect Disney was trying to create for guest photographs.

In the image above, you can see the discolored sections of the light strips captured on camera. These flaws in the light show didn’t exist just a week ago when Disney re-activated the underground lights. So, one has to wonder why these systems fail so quickly.

The refurbishment of Epcot took five years to complete and cost Disney millions. But issues with the new areas continue to spring up, specifically around the center of the park. On top of World Celebration’s lighting woes, there’s also several roped off areas with cracked pavement that have only been exposed to foot traffic for a year.
Additionally, the nearby Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana walkthrough attraction has had underground plumbing leaks which have led to flooding and a persistent sewage like smell that permeates the area.
