Just when you thought the stench of Halyna Hutchins’ unnecessary death couldn’t get any worse, new info comes out that leaves you in disbelief.
Everything about the Alec Baldwin situation with the movie production of Rust is gross. Quick review: Baldwin shot a woman with a not-a-prop-gun, also known as a gun. It was loaded but wasn’t supposed to be. He pulled the trigger according to the FBI but said on national television that he did not. It’s been a long time since that day and Baldwin hasn’t been arrested despite not only killing Halyna Hutchins, but also having been the boss of the entire production. Nobody else has been arrested either but that may be about to change.
But somebody threw a wrench in the whole thing, and that person is Halyna Hutchins’ husband. His recent decision may not impact whether or not people go to jail, but it sure is something that raises my eyebrows. It also may raise my ire with all of this.
You see, Mr. Hutchins has accepted a settlement with Mr. Baldwin that has an undisclosed payment amount going to the Hutchins family. Fine, I suppose. I hope it was millions and millions of dollars. Then, in a strange turn of events, it also makes Mr. Hutchins an executive producer on the movie Rust, which will continue filming this winter! Well, that’s something. But you could argue that maybe Halyna’s dying wish was to have this movie that resulted in her death actually come to fruition. I can’t imagine that’s the case but maybe it is. The alternative is too horrible, too morose: that Halyna’s husband will receive credit and money from the movie that had her bleed out on the set.
Halyna Hutchins' widow, Matthew Hutchins, will receive an undisclosed portion of the movie's profits and be an executive producer on the film when it resumes filming in January 2023.

Then, everything gets much darker. In fact, I have a hard time fathoming that any good person would do this. Maybe I’m just not privy to something that would explain it. Here’s that which I cannot explain:
Halyna’s husband, as part of the settlement, and without the knowledge of anything that law enforcement has investigated (presumably), her husband is proclaiming that it was all an accident.
I’m sorry, but I can’t imagine ever — and I mean ever — agreeing to say that the death of my spouse at the hands of another was an accident just for money. And there seems no way that Mr. Hutchins could know what really happened without first knowing the police investigation results.
I guess I’m just speechless from top to bottom over all of this. For now, I just have to assume that the Hutchins family knows something we don’t… otherwise, this is all so corrupt that it boggles the mind.
“We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed. The filming of Rust, which I will now executive produce, will resume with all the original principal players on board in January 2023. I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin). All of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.”
