Velma is bad. You know it, I know it, the whole internet knows it. But like roadkill on a hot day, sometimes you just can’t look away. Let’s dissect this disgusting attempt at cartoon comedy.
In the first episode of “Everything Woke About” I take aim at the worst thing a woke creative can do: take something that children love and turn it into something that even adults would say is over the line.
We’ve already covered a general review of the first 2 episodes of the new HBOMax series Velma, but something about this show bothered me more than I initially thought. Was it the fact that they take an innocent kid’s show and turn it into something corrupt? Yes. Was it the mediocre and predictable writing? Yes. Was it the preachy way that these horrible characters conduct themselves? Absolutely.
Let me tell you, this video is tame compared to what Velma and HBOMax probably deserve.
HBOMax says that Velma is one of their biggest animated series premiers ever, but in my opinion it’s for all the wrong reasons. Even the critics seem to agree that something went wrong here. Rotten Tomatoes appears to be in some kind of acrobatic addition / deletion of reviews to keep the show at a 50%, although they finally seem to have let it slip to 47% at the time of this article. Audiences maintain a 6% rating.
I want to make sure they don’t confuse attention with success, so gettin your eyeballs on this would greatly be appreciated. Don’t forget to hit the Like button while you’re there. So come on over to the first video on the Jonas J. Campbell YouTube channel and hit subscribe. The next video is already in the works and will premier next Wednesday at 9:30 AM ET. Hit the notification bell because there’s a high chance I’ll be doing even more than this series.
Of course, in this super quick review there are a lot of things I might have missed. If you drop a comment here or on the video, it’s more than likely there’s going to be a next video on Velma. Unfortunately for myself the show continues on its march of cultural arson (and is probably going to get a second video on my channel).
And as always, if there’s ever anything we need to shine a spotlight on, let me know here or on Twitter (and now YouTube)!
