Rachel Zegler as Snow White in Snow White (2025), Walt Disney Studios

The Hollywood starlet has not done much to endear herself with the industry, coworkers or fans. Now, the Walt Disney Company may be cutting back on RZ from her leading Snow White role.

The following article is based on information received from a source we believe to be reliable but whose identity is protected. Due to our inability to verify parts of the information we have received, this article is distinctly rumor and speculation.

Rachel Zegler has made quite the name for herself in Hollywood. It’s not all good. Maybe most of it isn’t. Sure, she made some inroads with the idealogues and the zealots when she went after Gina Carano. Then again, going after Jeremy Renner right before he risked his life to throw someone out of harm’s way (and thus allowing himself to be run over by a snow plow)…. probably a bad look.

Then of course there was the time she called prince charming a “creeper”, Or was it a “stalker”? It’s so hard to remember what major firestorms she’s created.

Trust me, we could keep going for probably a novella’s worth of appropriate critiques for Rachel Zegler — a woman who has yet to experience a true bona fide box office success (and no, Hunger Games hitting half its potential from a decade-ago doesn’t count). Perhaps that’s why Disney just might be feeling very unsure about going forward with Zegler as Snow White. And that’s even despite having cast her in the role and already having filmed the movie once! Now, with a year’s worth of delays, it’s back to the drawing board.

According to a source we believe to have accurate information, Disney has been looking for a way to “soften” the image of Snow White as played by Rachel Zegler in the movie. According to this source, the amount of reshoots they need for Zegler is prohibitively intense… and it also doesn’t make much sense to try having her play the role in a more heartwarming, traditional manner if she’s also playing it quite differently in the original footage. As an example, the source says the chances of Rachel Zegler convincingly singing “Some Day My Prince Will Come” after her interviews to be about as zero as zero can be.

So, I was told that Disney has come up with a Plan C… or D… or who knows? Anyway, it’s a plan that you wouldn’t go with unless you were really, really stuck.

The source claims that Disney has hired a young actress to play Snow White as a child. The idea is to cut time out of Zegler’s performance, show Snow White as a cute little kid, and soften the character with flashbacks and/or major origin story portion at the beginning of the film. Of course, edits have not begun for these scenes as we believe they’re not shot yet, so things could change. That said, if they do go forward with significant cutaways to Snow White as a child, this is a deviation from the original. And, wouldn’t you know it, after receiving this information last week, it turns out there are sites reporting that Disney has, indeed, hired a young actress to take the role. And that would mean that they’re actively inserting a new childhood-portion of the movie that wasn’t originally planned!

Inside the Magic is reporting that Emilia Faucher will play a young version of Rachel Zegler’s Snow White. They picked up their info from Disinsider, but unfortunately the original report is not working at the time of this publication.

As for whether or not Emilia Faucher is up to taking on the role and “softening” the overall film’s tone and portrayal… well, she’s just about the cutest kid you’ll find.

But, of course, for all the cuteness of Emilia Faucher and the opportunity of a child’s lifetime, the story here probably still must be that Disney doesn’t even feel they can run with Rachel Zegler as Snow White the way they once did. After all, bringing in a kid to replace major parts of your original runtime certainly feels like a Disney ready to do anything they can to convince families that they “get it.” And to “get it” they needed to get away from a Snow White who is portrayed as a socialist revolutionary leading a rebellion in Germany.

Ay ay ay.
