In two months of 2022, we have had a number of famous people die unexpectedly and in an otherwise healthy state. It has been odd. That unfortunately continues today with passing of Ghostbusters director, Ivan Reitman. The previously healthy Reitman passed away in his sleep Saturday night, shocking his family and his fans.
Our family is grieving the unexpected loss of a husband, father, and grandfather who taught us to always seek the magic in life. We take comfort that his work as a filmmaker brought laughter and happiness to countless others around the world. While we mourn privately, we hope those who knew him through his films will remember him always

Beyond the Ghostbusters movies, Reitman also worked on Meatballs, Stripes, Kindergarten Cop, and other comedy films. His passing gives even more meaning to Ghostbusters Afterlife, the final film he helped produce, side-by-side with his son Jason. Together they addressed loss of loved ones in the movie.
I am deeply saddened by the loss of Ivan’ Reitman. Truly a great man and filmmaker who I had honor and privilege of knowing and working with. Deepest condolences to Jason and the entire family. May he RIP #jasonReitman

Opening night of Ghostbusters at UA Plainview was like a rock concert. The place exploded with joy. It was one of the most memorable moments of my childhood. Ivan Reitman influenced everything we all love about film comedy. A true legend. https://t.co/AHKAoo1ahB

We wish to not report anything of this sort soon again. Godspeed, Mr. Reitman, and God bless all those who loved him and whom he loved. Here’s to the other side!
