Joseph Quinn, who is slated to play Johnny Storm in the upcoming Fantastic Four film described the movie as “very different” compared “to other Marvel films.”

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the role, Quinn shared, “I knew that they’d been talking about making the Fantastic Four in the Marvel Universe for a while. I had a talk with [director] Matt [Shakman], and it was very clear with the kind of people who they were attaching to it what they were trying to do with it. There are aspects of it that are very much a singular thing and its own thing.”
He added, “Working with Vanessa, Pedro, Evan — they’re really consummate pros and brilliant in everything they’re in. So I’m really looking forward to establishing this familial dynamic with them and with Matt Shakman’s guidance.”

Quinn went on to claim the film is different from other Marvel films, “I think that with the story of the Fantastic Four, it feels like we want to get this right. There are aspects of it that are very different to other Marvel films. That felt very compelling to me. And again, going back to who’s involved, Matt, of course, the director, I think is brilliant, and the cast, and I’ve read it and the script is brilliant. It’s really brilliant. I’m delighted to have this opportunity.”
He concluded, “Superhero movies are movies about people. And if we’re invested in the people and the characters and the peril and the spectacle, then that’s why people go to the theaters to watch films. We’re not just in a penny; we’re in for a pound with this one. We’re going to go for it.”

The film already has an uphill battle ahead of it as The Walt Disney Company and Marvel Studios have embraced wokeness and subsequently seen massive declines at the box office including their most recent release, The Marvels, which did not even gross $200 million globally despite having a production budget of at least $276 million.
The Fantastic Four film seems to have already been infected with the same disease that has been rotting the company from the inside as it was reported by Deadline’s Justin Kroll that Ozark actress Julia Garner will play a gender-swapped version of the Silver Surfer in the film. She will allegedly play Norrin Radd’s (the Silver Surfer) love interest Shalla-Bal.
Shalla-Bal did become the Silver Surfer, but it was in an obscure alternate universe series titled Earth X that ran from 1999 to 2000. She was the Silver Surfer for two panels and was quickly killed off.

Due to this embrace of wokeness, other superhero films are faring poorly at the box office as well.
The most recent Marvel film, Madame Web, which was released by Sony, has not even grossed $100 million at the global box office yet. The-Numbers reports its only grossed $97.7 million. It had a production budget of $80 million.
Anya Corazon (Isabela Merced), Cassandra Webb (Dakota Johnson), Julia Cornwall (Sydney Sweeney) and Mattie Franklin (Celeste OConnor) in Columbia Pictures MADAME WEB.
