The Fast & Furious Supercharged is closing at Universal Studios Florida on August 17, 2026. Guests will have their final opportunity to ride the attraction on August 16, 2026, before the experience permanently leaves the park’s lineup.
The closure comes earlier than the previously announced 2027 timeline as Universal prepares the area for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a new roller coaster scheduled to open at Universal Studios Florida in 2027.
History of Fast & Furious – Supercharged
The Universal Orlando attraction followed the earlier opening of Fast & Furious – Supercharged at Universal Studios Hollywood. That version opened in 2015 as part of the Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour. Universal Studios Hollywood later closed its version in 2025 as the park prepared for its own Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster.
When Universal brought the attraction to Universal Studios Florida in 2018, it became a standalone ride rather than part of a larger behind-the-scenes tour. The Florida version expanded the concept with a dedicated queue, themed spaces, and a separate boarding experience.
The attraction uses a motion simulation format that combines physical sets, projection screens, and vehicle movement. It places guests inside a fictional chase connected to the Fast & Furious film franchise.

The ride features characters from the movies, including Dominic Toretto, Letty Ortiz, Luke Hobbs, and Roman Pearce. Guests enter a themed garage environment before experiencing a simulated pursuit sequence involving scenes by the films.
Why Universal Is Replacing Fast & Furious Supercharged
The replacement follows years of mixed reactions to the existing attraction. The Orlando version, as a standalone ride, was not as well received as its Hollywood counterpart that was part of a larger tour. Though Universal has not stated the reason behind the ride replacement, poor guest reception likely contributed to its closure.

Unlike Fast & Furious – Supercharged, which relies on screens and simulated movement, Hollywood Drift will use a traditional outdoor roller coaster system. Universal has said the attraction will feature vehicles designed to create a drifting effect during the ride.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will be built on the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit site at Universal Studios Florida. Universal announced the closure of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit in 2025 as part of its plans to redevelop the area for a new attraction.
What Happens Next for Fast & Furious Supercharged
The closure of Fast & Furious – Supercharged will end the attraction’s run at Universal Studios Florida after several years of operation. The change reflects Universal’s effort to update parts of its theme park lineup with new ride concepts.
Guests who want to experience Fast & Furious – Supercharged can continue visiting the attraction through August 16.
The transition will move Universal Orlando’s Fast & Furious attraction from a motion simulation format to a roller coaster experience. It represents a significant change in how the franchise appears at Universal Studios Florida.
