Feige Fields James Gunn Question on Red Carpet: See the Tom Conners Edit

He was the wunderkind of Marvel after the first Guardians of the Galaxy suddenly became a massive success. Now Gunn is gone and Kevin Feige is awkward.

On the red carpet premiere of Wakanda Forever, Kevin Feige was asked about the exit of James Gunn from Marvel properties. Gunn has ben hired to take over the Warner Bros DC Cinematic Universe. That’s a huge loss for Disney and also creates a weird situation where Gunn needs to put out a good finale for his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, while he’s also employed by Marvel’s biggest competitor. It also comes at a time when Marvel is struggling perhaps more than since before Ironman. Outside of Spider-Man No Way Home, the Marvel movies have not been hugely profitable since 2019. And on Disney+, the superheroes are not winning over big viewership. Hocus Pocus 2 actually garnered double the views on Disney+ that Thor Love and Thunder did according to Nielsen ratings.

Given all the interesting cogs in motion with this situation, it was only fair that someone needed to take Feige’s very awkward moment and turn it into an internet sensation. Enter one Tom Conners of Midnight’s Edge.

Enjoy.

“Outside of Spider-Man No Way Home, the Marvel movies have not been hugely profitable since 2019.”
The hell are you talking about Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder were profitable

“Hocus Pocus 2 actually garnered double the views on Disney+ that Thor Love and Thunder did according to Nielsen ratings.”

Defending Rick for a moment:
As a whole Marvel has had more flops since 2019 than box office successes AND their average gain/loss is likely negative with Spider-Man removed (Sony-driven).

This moment brought to you by Alan Horn…

how nice the author cant defend himself. None of the films post 2019 were flops Black widow was released on streaming and theaters and they didn’t have china like they normally do.

PattyLuPwnz

Knowing the reasons why Black Widow was a flop doesn’t mean it wasn’t a flop, it just confirms that it was.

TimQ

Yes, 2019 was a huge flop. Third quarter reported a loss. Read the financial reports. Google it yourself.

All of this bickering is unnecessary ladies and gentlemen, because we all know the true guillotine blade is Wakanda Forever. The questions that are burning for me are on the chess board now. Does Disney replace Feige with the Russo brothers because they’ve already said they’d like to come back for Secret Wars? Do the Russo brothers get poached by Netflix or even dare I say by Gunn to work on something like Batman that would be in their wheel house to revitalize at WB? Does Disney put pressure on talents like Ryan Reynolds to speed up their production because I don’t think Marvel has two years to wait for Deadpool 3 at the rate they are burying themselves? Does Disney finally replace Brie Larsen with Yvonne Strahovski for Captain Marvel and pursue a plot in which Rogue drains Captain Marvel of her powers and nearly kill her? Are changes to Wakanda Forever being made as we speak to improve the movie? Will Kevin Feige do a mea culpa with Edgar Wright and hire him to helm a Blade movie and get it to market rather than continue to kick the can down the road? I expect that a lot of my questions will be answered soon after Wakanda Forever drops because if they aren’t I expect impatience with a lack of action by Disney to be met with rebukes from circles Disney ought to care more about or cares about already.
