Final Fantasy VII Remake announced a new patch that added a black shirt to Tifa to minimize the amount of cleavage she showed while wearing her cowgirl outfit.

Patch 1.003 was announced on the game’s Steam’s page. The update did not provide many details and only noted that it updated contents to make “fixes to several bugs.”

While Square did not provide any actual information about what they fixed, players were quick to notice that a black shirt was added to Tifa during the Nibelheim flashback scene.

Here’s how the game originally depicted Tifa:

Square Enix has not officially addressed why the black shirt was added to Tifa for the scene.

Some players believe this change was made to better align the game with the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth game that depicts Tifa wearing a black undershirt.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is expected to arrive on PlayStation 5 on February 29th. Square Enix released a new demo last week titled “Dawn of a New Era in Junon” that added to the previously released “The Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim.”

The new demo allows players to take control of Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and Red XIII as they emerge into the outskirts of Junon. According to a press release the demo puts players “several hours into the main storyline, this special preview made specifically for the demo features a small piece of the massive in-game world that players can freely explore.”
