There was a bit more pyro than expected with the closing of Harmonious at Epcot last night. Luckily, nobody was hurt and order was restored quickly.

It was an odd way to end an evening at Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park on Tuesday night. The Harmonious fireworks show at the park’s closing reportedly had a stray firework enter into the American Gardens Theater in front of the American Pavilion on the World Showcase. The backside of the theater then caught on fire but was put out minutes later. Epcot services rushed to the area using boats and land-based vehicles to extinguish the fire. Still, it wasn’t what many guests were expecting as they exited the park.

Although fires do happen at Walt Disney World from time to time, they are almost always put out with haste. The parks have extensive infrastructure, both physical and human, in place to resolve any emergency situations that might arise. One of the only recent exceptions has been a fire at the Tiki Room in Magic Kingdom overnight which caused extensive damage to the prior version of the show.
If there are any changes to the use of the area today at Epcot, we will let you know here at That Park Place. As always, drop a comment down below and let us know your thoughts.
