Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will begin streaming on Peacock on April 3, 2026. The announcement arrived nearly four months after the film premiered in theaters in December 2025.

Universal Pictures released the film exclusively in theaters before its streaming debut. By contrast, the first Five Nights at Freddy’s film debuted in theaters and on Peacock on the same day in 2023. However, the studio chose a traditional theatrical window for the sequel after the strong box office performance of the original movie.

Peacock confirmed the streaming date through a social media announcement in early March 2026. As a result, viewers who missed the theatrical run will soon have access to the film at home.

The sequel continues the story introduced in the first movie. The narrative follows Mike Schmidt and his younger sister Abby after their earlier encounter with the animatronics connected to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. The story takes place about one year after the events of the first film. Abby remains drawn to the animatronic figures she previously befriended. When she attempts to reconnect with them, the situation reveals new secrets tied to the franchise’s past.

Cast and Creative Team

Several actors from the first film returned for the sequel. Josh Hutcherson again plays Mike Schmidt, a former night security guard. Piper Rubio also returns as Abby Schmidt, Mike’s younger sister.

Elizabeth Lail reprises her role as Vanessa Shelly, a police officer connected to the events surrounding the restaurant. Meanwhile, Matthew Lillard again portrays William Afton, a central figure in the franchise’s storyline.

The sequel also introduces several new characters. Skeet Ulrich appears as Henry Emily, who has connections to the origins of the restaurant. Wayne Knight plays Abby’s science teacher, Mr. Berg. In addition, Mckenna Grace joins the cast as Lisa, a paranormal investigator who becomes involved in the unfolding mystery.

Freddy Carter also appears in the film as Michael Afton, Vanessa’s brother. Teo Briones and Theodus Crane also appear in supporting roles.

Emma Tammi returned to direct the sequel after helming the first film. Meanwhile, Scott Cawthon, the creator of the original video game franchise, wrote the screenplay. His continued involvement maintains a direct link between the games and their film adaptation.

Box Office Performance and Release Timeline

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 opened in the United States on December 5, 2025. The film earned about $63 million during its opening weekend in North America.

The movie later continued its theatrical run through the end of the year. Eventually, it earned about $239.6 million worldwide.

Although the sequel earned less than the original film, the results still marked a profitable run. Blumhouse Productions often produces films with moderate budgets, which can improve profitability.

Before the upcoming streaming debut, the film also became available through digital platforms. Viewers could rent or purchase the movie through video-on-demand services after the theatrical window. Physical media releases followed later in the home entertainment cycle.

The April streaming debut represents the next step in the distribution timeline. Universal often moves its films to Peacock after theatrical and digital releases conclude. In this case, the platform will add the sequel roughly four months after its theatrical launch.
