It’s going to be very crowded at Walt Disney World for July 3rd and 4th. We have tips and tricks to try to help you navigate the resort and see Magic Kingdom’s spectacular fireworks.

According to sources around Walt Disney World, it’s looking like all the theme parks are going to be at capacity for Sunday and Monday. While that’s great for The Walt Disney Company, it presents some logistical hurdles for guests looking to view the impressive Fourth of July Fireworks… especially at the Magic Kingdom.

Under the current system, guests with the Park Hopper option for the parks are allowed to go to a different theme park as early as 2PM. Normally that’s not a problem and the two heavy-hitters for evenings but Epcot and Magic Kingdom may not be available very much at all for guests looking to switch over. Without any Hollywood Studios fireworks this year for Independence Day, it’s possible that a large number of guests could find themselves displeased that they cannot make it into Magic Kingdom for the 360 degree display. Epcot is unlikely to be nearly as hard to make it into, though we do expect Epcot to reach capacity near showtime. But for many families, Epcot’s patriotic tag after the main Harmonious show is nothing compared to the fully unique extravaganza at Magic Kingdom.

WDW Magic is recommending guests check their My Disney app before attempting to park hop both today and tomorrow. We concur:

To enter a Walt Disney World theme park on this Fourth of July you will need a Park Pass Reservation. Park hopping may be possible at 2pm, but depending on capacity this may be restricted. Check with My Disney Experience before park hopping for any updates.

If you find yourself unable to park hop to Magic Kingdom to see the fireworks, we have some suggestions for you. Here are other options to see the show:

  1. You can attempt to watch the fireworks by exiting the Resort Monorail at the Polynesian. We do not suggest trying to drive to the Polynesian.
  2. Another spot to watch the fireworks, though not as good, is to go to the dock near Narcoose’s at the Grand Floridian.
  3. We do not recommend attempting to see the fireworks anywhere at the Contemporary this time. The viewing balcony will likely be closed.
  4. If all else fails, there is a spot in Ticket and Transportation Center where the Epcot queue provides an excellent view of the castle. There are no guarantees cast members will let you watch from here, so use this as your last resort.

We hope this assists you in your journey to watch the fireworks… and we hope Disney begins adding more capacity to the parks to meet demand very, very soon!
