Disney’s reported salaries for the Frozen franchise’s three central stars have set a new benchmark in animation history. According to reporting from The Wrap, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Idina Menzel have signed deals for salaries worth more than $60 million apiece to return for Frozen 3 and 4 combined.
The figure includes both upfront compensation and backend participation, making it one of the most lucrative pay packages ever offered to voice actors.
Unprecedented Salary Levels for Animated Films
The Wrap’s reporting indicates that the salaries surpass any prior voice-actor deals in animation.
Historically, the highest-known payouts included Tom Hanks earning around $20 million for Toy Story 4 and Eddie Murphy receiving $15 million for Shrek 2. These Frozen 3 salaries represent a significant elevation in how Disney compensates its marquee animation talent at a time in which the Mouse House’s budgets have ballooned out of control, often with disastrous results.

Industry analysts note that each star reportedly earned approximately $15 million for Frozen 2, making the jump to more than $60 million a substantial increase. The trio’s compensation for the two upcoming installments marks a major shift in how studios value long-running animated franchises and their original voice casts.
Cost Implications for Disney’s Future Sequels
With animated production costs already high, these salary packages dramatically reshape expectations for the budgets of the next two Frozen films. Frozen 2 cost roughly $150 million to produce.

With Bell, Gad, and Menzel’s combined salaries topping $180 million, analysts project that Frozen 3 and 4 could each exceed $300 million before marketing.
A Franchise That Continues to Deliver
The Frozen series remains one of Disney’s most profitable properties. The first film earned $1.3 billion worldwide, followed by Frozen II at $1.4 billion in 2019. Merchandise sales have also played a massive role in the franchise’s long-term success, with some estimates placing global retail revenue at approximately $11 billion.

Given those numbers, such sizable Frozen 3 salaries appear aligned with the studio’s long-term strategy. With two sequels now in development, Disney is clearly betting that Anna, Elsa, and Olaf’s cultural footprint remains strong enough to justify unprecedented investments.
Release Plans Moving Forward
Disney currently has Frozen 3 slated for release over Thanksgiving 2027, with Frozen 4 in development but not yet dated.

Wonder if they’ll try to shoehorn DEI and alphabet stuff into these…
I assume it’ll be a Mack truck as opposed to a shoe horn.
Sadly, the only thing disney wins at is these chick made chick flicks. They fail at the boy made movies by chicks.

Frozen 1 was good because it was simple and a singular Story, but then of course Disney ruined it with Frozen 2.
It was like Atlantis, Tangled, and Treasure Planet. Other the Atlantis getting a Made For TV sequel, the rest never did, and are better for it.
Let’s be honest. Frozen 1 was popular because Elsa is hot, and “Let It Go” is a actually good Song. Other then that, it’s an OK Movie.
It was classic in the Walt Disney vein. My girls were real little when it was released. The whole family loved it. Because it was one of the last “disney’s” made for the….. whole family.
I wouldn’t mind hearing about josh gad being found dead on his toilet before the end of the year. I hope he’s gay so he doesn’t procreate. Thus ending that unfortunate DNA string.
