Actress Gina Carano, who was fired from The Mandalorian by Kathleen Kennedy and The Walt Disney Company back in 2021, recently shared that all of her co-stars including Pedro Pascal and Carl Weathers did not like that she was fired.

Gina Carano is Cara Dune in THE MANDALORIAN, season two, exclusively on Disney+.

During an appearance on the PBD Podcast, Carano was asked, “Were there a lot of people in Hollywood who reached out to you and agreed with you, but couldn’t be vocal and said, ‘Look, you’re right. We’re with you. We agree with, but we can’t publicly agree because it’s going to hurt our career.’ Did you get a lot of calls like that?”

Carano answered, “Not initially. I got no calls initially. But I got a lot of support and have gotten more support. I go do these fan expos and people will have me come up to their booths and they’re like, ‘We’re so with you, sister. We’re so with you.’ And I’m like, ‘I know. I know.'”

She continued, “I think there’s a lot more people in the middle. And a lot of these actors are just— I know a lot of my costars they hate what happened to me. Bill Burr was just incredible and awesome. He was like, ‘She’s a sweetheart and if I say anything I’m going to get canceled.’ So at the time, three years ago, it was a different environment and it was hard for people to speak up.”

Next, she revealed, “Every single one of my costars including Pedro and Carl did not believe what happened to me was correct.”

Burr commented on Carano’s firing on The Bill Bert Podcast with guest Joe DeRosa at the end of February 2021. After DeRosa paraphrased why Disney and Lucasfilm fired Carano, Burr responded, “I think there is just too many channels. And then you gotta do sensational s**t.”

He continued, “I don’t know what the f**k it is. I’m on that f***ing show. Now, I gotta watch what the f**k I say.”

Next, he praised Carano, “She was an absolute sweetheart. Super nice f***ing person. And you know whatever and somehow someone will take this video and they’ll make me say something else and try to get rid of my bald action figure.”

Burr continued, “How it is out there. It’s f***ing crazy time. People just waiting, laying in the weeds.”

Later in the podcast, the conversation turned to cancel culture in general, and Burr stated, “Now it’s becoming like, ‘Hey you made an ignorant comparison. (flushing sound) there goes your dream, right?”

He then questions, “I look at that and it’s like, ‘Who the f*** stands up to that?’”

Burr had previously addressed Carano’s firing on his Monday Morning Podcast where he said, “I’m having a weird week. I’m having a great week and then… I’m mostly having a bad week because social media took out yet another friend of mine and I just don’t know. I don’t know. It seems like now you can make a statement that is uninformed. It’s just unbelievable. It’s unreal. It’s just f***ing. I don’t get it.”

He continued, “I don’t agree with what I read, but I mean do I think that then you should just… Everybody gets the electric chair. There’s just no like, ‘Hey, you know you might want to read up on this a little bit more before you compare this to that.’ It’s just like flamethrower, lit, done. F***ing crazy, man. F***ing crazy. Crazy god damn times.”

Carano also received praise from Emily Swallow, who played the Armorer on The Mandalorian. She told The Direct, “All I can say is that Gina, and working with her personally, what impressed me about her from the beginning is that she is so interested in other peoples’ opinions, and is so welcoming of other peoples’ opinions. She wants to have a genuine dialogue. She’s just like that in her day-to-day life. On set, she’s more curious about other people. She’s very giving, she’s very gracious.”

She added, “I know so little about what happened. I experienced it like you did. I don’t know anything about the inner workings of it. I can only speak about Gina being a lovely person, which she is.”

Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Moff Gideon, also had high praise for Carano during a Q&A session at Fan Expo Denver 2021.

He was asked, “In The Mandalorian who is your favorite co-worker to work with?”

Esposito responded, “My goodness. Okay so you’re asking me for one. Yeah. I have to say and this may be… Well, okay, I’ll say it without hesitation. Gina Carano.”

He continued, “She went through a lot the last year and I’m not going to weigh in on any of that in particular other than any of her political beliefs or what she said whether I think it’s inappropriate or appropriate or not.”

“Right, we as actors, yeah, we probably sometimes, I know for me, I should just shut my mouth, but sometimes I can’t and I’ve got to say what I believe because it has to go on record,” the Moff Gideon actor said.

“I loved working with her. She’s warm, and beautiful, and wonderful. And I don’t care what her politics are. I love the fact that she came to acting late and that she was so raw and original and beautiful. And I just think she’s a lovely person. So I shout her out and I say she’s one of my favorites,” he concluded.
