Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire director Adam Wingard is promoting the upcoming movie by claiming the film’s villain “Skar King is the greatest threat that we’ve seen in these movies.”

Wingard spoke to Total Film by first detailing that the Skar King is akin to a human threat to the Kaiju monsters.
He said, “What’s interesting about this new film is that we go in a direction that I don’t think this series has ever seen before, which is that the Skar King is, in a way, the closest that the human threat has ever been juxtaposed onto a titan itself.”
“The Skar King almost represents an upscaled version of the worst parts of humanity, just as Kong represents some of the best parts of humanity,” he explained.

Next, Wingard detailed that the Skar King is the greatest threat the Monsterverse has seen.
He said, “I would say the Skar King is the greatest threat that we’ve seen in these movies. It’s really going to take a full team together to bring it down because it’s too big for just one titan!”

Wingard’s comments seem to confirm rumors about the film that Kong and Godzilla will team-up again as they did against MechaGodzilla in Godzilla vs. Kong.
X user Ian Cassidy detailed back in December that Kong calls Godzilla for aid, but Godzilla believes he is challenging him again. A fight eventually breaks out between the two, but Mothra interrupts them and refocuses the two titans on the Skar King and his machinations.

From there, Godzilla, Kong, and Mothra team-up to take on the Scar King and the enslaved Shimo. The trio are able to free Shimo and unite with him to defeat the Scar King.

While Wingard’s comments appear to confirm the rumors, they are also deeply concerning given Godzilla vs. Kong saw the two team-up against MechaGodzilla, a human-built titan that clearly represented some of the worst of humanity. It obviously took a team-up between both Kong and Godzilla to defeat it.
Not only did the two have to team-up to defeat MechaGodzilla, but Godzilla had to face off against King Ghidorah in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
