When a company begins posting highly-offensive material online, sometimes it’s because they’re pushing divisive content. In this case, however, a hacker was to blame.
That Park Place has a policy in place that we do not normally disclose the name of a hacker in our articles. This is out of a desire to not promote the actions of someone who partakes in illegal activity for notoriety.
Disney Parks found itself in the middle of an ugly situation today as a hacker was able to take over the Disneyland Instagram account. After gaining access to the social media giant’s Instagram, the hacker proceeded to post items that were of vulgar or vile content. The hacker made references to genitalia, viruses, and other detestable troll commentary. In doing so, the hacker released this material to families and children who follow the account for updates on events, tickets, and photos of the Disneyland Resort.
The hacker claimed that he wanted “revenge” against Disney or Disneyland. It’s hard to determine whether that was a legitimate statement or part of a larger jest.
I can’t imagine the scrambling and clean up work Disney has to do to fix this mess. Has Disney made an official statement?

After about an hour, the account was taken down and returned without any of the offensive posts remaining. Disney has yet to make a statement about how the security was breached for the account.
This is a breaking news story. Should there be any further changes, we will update this article.
