A source speaking to The Hollywood Reporter suggested that, if the reports were accurate, it amounted to a “power play” on Hardy’s part.
“Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager,” the source said.

However, that narrative was challenged by a source who spoke to Variety. While acknowledging that “any actor is frustrated when they’re made to wait a couple of hours,” the source maintained that there was never any serious rift between Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy.

“I know she’s said to him a couple of times, ‘Come on Tom, we’ve been here for ages, let’s get on with it,’ but she’s never appeared to be anti-Tom,” the source said.
There was also speculation that Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy disagreed on political issues, contributing to reports of behind-the-scenes tension.
“Helen is not that sort of person,” a second source told Variety. The source added that if Hardy’s tardiness ever became a genuine problem, Mirren would likely address it directly rather than allow it to escalate into a larger conflict.
“She’s not the sort of person who’s going to get involved in a whole political situation. She just isn’t. She certainly isn’t going to be one who stamps her feet and says ‘Well I’m not coming back if he’s in it.’ It’s just not her.”

“Tom gets slightly lost in his own little world sometimes I think,” the source said. “I don’t think he does it maliciously. I don’t even know if he particularly thinks he’s really doing it.”

While it remains unclear whether Tom Hardy will return for MobLand Season 3, some of those working on the show believe the series could continue without him.
For her part, Helen Mirren and her representatives have not spoken publicly about Hardy or the rumors surrounding his future with the series.
